"Raph Thinks It Through" is the third episode of Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It aired on on August 9th, 2024.

Synopsis[]

Raph's strength won't save him when he's caught between the Mechazoids and the notorious street gang known as Purple Dragons! Raph's going to have to use his head to get out of this one.

Michelangelo: Previously on the "Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", I totally fought a robot, and a bear, too. We got attacked by Bishop and her Mechazoids, and I got separated from my family. Even worse, I got stuck with Bishop's intern, Rod, whose dad can call off the robots and save my brothers. In exchange, he wants to get turned into a mutant because he's legit crazy. Anyway, I accidentally turned a pigeon into a mutant instead. These things happen. Long story short, I beat the Mechazoid all on my own, but now, I gotta help my brothers.

Plot[]

Raphael is pulled out of the water and coughs up a small normal turtle. Some onlooking hoodlums comment on how weird that is, and how much weirder it would be if the small turtle coughed up another turtle. Raph tries to put on a tough facade but he is injured and immediately loses consciousness again. The thugs pack up and take Raph with them, and as they do, the head and torso of Mechazoid 02 washes up on shore, watching them take off with Raph. It locates the logo of the truck they are taking in its database, to the Gently Plucked Chicken Company, and suddenly springs an arm, dragging itself across the shore and "coughing" up another small turtle.

While struggling to regain consciousness, Raph has a flashback to the fight at the shipyard, with, like Leonardo and Michelangelo's flashbacks in the previous episodes, overexaggerates the traits of his brothers and is self-serving. Raph comes up with the "plan" to "kick their metal butts" and rushes in as a massive Mechazoid 02, many times the size of the real one, erupts out of the ground. He rushes it and stabs it in the "eye" with his sai but is swatted away. The Mechazoid speaks to him in a mocking tone, telling him that they were all doomed because he couldn't save them, as it stomps the group with a single, massive step.

Raph wakes up to the sounds of three members of the gang talking about him. He easily breaks the extension cord they tied him up with, and asks if they want to tell him who they are before he pounds them. They introduce themselves as the Purple Dragons, but before he can get to fighting, the truck stops and hits into reverse briefly, knocking him out the doors and in front of a larger Purple Dragon member. He smacks Raph in the head with a brick, knocking him out again.

Raph comes to once more, facing a chicken in a sweater. It pecks him on the beak and scatters off, and he tries to sit up but his ribs are in bad shape, hurting him. He looks over to see many more chickens, most of which are also wearing sweaters. He looks around at the chicken plucking machine and is accosted by three more chickens, and he tries to shoo them off. The large Purple Dragon who knocked Raph out tells him he's upsetting the chickens as he equips that first chicken, Sherry, with a pair of muscular arms. Raph asks him what he's doing, and he tells him he's putting arms on the chickens so they can protect themselves. Raph asks who's going to protect him, and prepares to attack, but is brought to the floor by the chain holding him down. The Dragon asks him to stop, as he doesn't want to hurt him again, brandishing the brick once more before walking away. Raph continues to try to act tough and calls him "Gigantor", and the Dragon tells him his name's Hun and it's not nice to make fun of someone because of their size.

Another Dragon, Angel, bursts in on a motorcycle. Hun says she can't leave it inside because the noise scares the chickens, but she doesn't want to leave it outside where it can be stolen, and nobody but him cares about the chickens. Raph gets angry and pulls on the chain, breaking the floorboard it was attached to, and swings it around, missing Hun and Angel but decking the hooded Dragon. Angel runs and slides into Raph, knocking him over, and Hun leaps into the air and brings his brick down on Raph's plastron. They then tie him up again and leave him hanging from a hook. Angel says they gotta make sure Raph sticks around because Kitsune is coming, and she wants to see "the mutant". Angel continues to tell off Hun, saying that he's the strongest Dragon but he needs to toughen up. Before she leaves, she says he has one job; to watch Raph.

Meanwhile, from the skylight above, Mechazoid 02 peers in and locates Raph. Still just a torso, head, and arm, it turns around and finds a power box, using its components to repair itself.

Raph taunts Hun into attacking him so he could counter, and he knocks Hun's brick out of his hand, leaving Hun to flail at Raph and bite his shin. Raph kicks him away and is still left on the hook. Hun apologizes to another chicken, Becks, for the violence, and vows to get the chickens all out of the factory. He then apologizes to Raph for biting him, and Raph tells him as his prisoner he shouldn't be apologizing to him. He wonders how Hun even got into the authority position he's in, and Hun says because he's the biggest and strongest, and needs to protect the other Dragons. Raph understands that, and Hun says sometimes he's just not strong enough.

Raph notices the Mechazoid trotting around on the roof, and tries to convince Hun to let him go. Hun says he can't because Kitsune would be mad at him. Raph says Hun may be scared of Kitsune, but he's not. As if on cue, Angel returns with Kitsune in tow. Raph is unimpressed, as she is a short, elderly lady. Kitsune asks Angel what Raph is, and she says he's one of the heroes that saved the city from the monster. Kitsune proceeds to inspect the dangling Raph, who is threatening to beat them all up, but Kitsune counters with asking why he hasn't done that yet, if he's so sure he could. Raph asks what she even wants with him, and she tells him they're going to sell him to the highest bidder. Before the bidding can begin, though she tells Chainsaw to cut off a finger for a pharmaceutical company that is willing to pay for just a sample.

Chainsaw excitedly begins to rev up his titular weapon, and Raph tries to talk him out of cutting off his finger. As he does, he sees Mechazoid 02 again. He tries to convince Kitsune to let him go because of the robot, but she doesn't believe him and walks off. Raph suddenly remembers what Mikey said about being personable, and begins telling chicken jokes. All of the Dragons except for Angel and Hun (who is offended by them) laugh at the jokes, and Hun asks what he's trying to do, and he says he's buying time, just as the Mechazoid breaks in through the skylight.

Hun realizes that Raph had been telling the truth all along and orders an attack on the Mechazoid. Several of the Dragons make contact. Chainsaw finally gets his weapon revved up, but when he swings it, the Mechazoid catches it. He punches Chainsaw and takes the weapon from him, using it to fight off the other Dragons, and all the while, Hun is running around trying to protect the chickens. Raph taunts the Mechazoid and it runs to attack him with the chainsaw, but Raph pulls his head into his shell and swings just in time for the robot to miss and cut him free. Raph ducks another swipe and the Mechazoid ends up hitting one of the chickens, angering Hun, who tackles the Mechazoid and begins wailing on him with Bricky. Raph takes this opportunity to retreat. After Hun gets in some smashes, the Mechazoid retracts the chainsaw into its arm and brings its regular arm out, grabbing Hun and flinging him, then laying waste to the other Dragons afterward.

Just as Raph reaches the door, he sees Hun being subjugated by 02, and begins to have a change of heart. When he goes to return to help, though, Angel attacks him with his own sai. Raph catches her arm, and she says she can't let him leave, despite the fact that he had already decided not to yet. Raph tells her he's trying to help them, and takes the sai back, throwing one at the Mechazoid's eye and impaling it, allowing Hun to take it down with a kick. Raph gives Bricky to Hun and the two team up to take down the Mechazoid, cultimating in severing its head. However, it is still active, and it attacks Raph with the chainsaw, which he holds off with his sai. Hun leaps in to attempt to help him, but Mechazoid catches him by the throat with its other arm. Angel cuts the chicken plucker free with her knife, swinging it into the Mechazoid and firing off the device into the robot.

Raph retrieves his said and tells Angel that if they're still going to fight, to give him a minute. Angel tells him no, that he saved Hun, so they're even, and she'll tell Kitsune he escaped. With the chicken factory in a state of disrepair, Hun sets the chickens free to their own devices, leaving sweaters and arms on them. One of them is suddenly hit by a car and Angel tells him he forgot to teach them to look both ways. Then she realizes her bike is missing... Raph has stolen it and is on his way to help his brothers.

Down in the subway, on top of a train, Donnie screams as he hangs onto the roof, pursued by Mechazoid 04.
