In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Rizzoli), Raffaello is a mutant turtle, and one of the four ninja sons adopted and trained by Hamato Yoshi (a.k.a. Splinter), along with his brothers Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello.

Reporter April O'Neil is chased into the sewers by a gang of thugs whose boss doesn't want her to continue her reports of thefts of scientific materials. They catch up to her, but before they can attack, the Ninja Turtles arrive and knock-out the thugs. When she wakes at the lair, Raphael asks if she would like some tea. After they tell her their story, they convince her they are not bad guys. The group celebrates their new friendship with pizza. Raffaello's choice of topping is mushrooms and chocolate.
