Voice-over introduction[]
Tengu Shredder: After long, torturous years of enforced slumber, I have awoken to find this world, wanting. It is boisterous, filthy, and worst of all, a breeding ground for weakness. The pathetic ruler of this place, the mayor, lives here. A silly little puppet of the rabble, he knows nothing of true power! But it is my pleasure to educate him.
Mayor: (Cries out as Shredder bursts through the ceiling of his house)
Tengu Shredder: New York, as the natives call it, is better suited to fall into the ocean, than to hold the throne of the Emperor. However, it does hold a unique appeal. There is great power here. Power which I shall use to remake this world in my own image. I shall change ALL! The Shredder dynasty begins anew - TODAY!
Plot[]
Inside April O'Neil’s apartment bedroom above her shop, 2nd Time Around, April tends to Karai’s wounds. Karai begins to wake, groaning a bit and calling out for “Father” and then becomes conscious of her surroundings and sits up suddenly. She asks where she is and then demands to know if she is April’s prisoner. April tells her she’s her patient and Karai is stunned that she saved her. Just after April warns Karai not to try anything funny, the door bursts open and Chaplin hits the floor, tossed down by Casey Jones. He tells April he found Chaplin sneaking around trying to break in. Chaplin spots Karai on the bed and rushes over, telling her they have to get out of there. He helps her off of the bed and leads her to the window, explaining that the resurrected Shredder has made his move. They can see the rolling orb of magic moving over the city, changing everything it touches. Chaplin says things are about to get very bad.
Down in the Turtles’ lair, the Turtles kneel before Splinter, with the Ancient One kneeling behind them. Splinter tells his sons that he’s been plagued by nightmares. He tells them about the dream, about how they are Shredder’s prey as he chases them through a dark forest at night in ancient Japan. Splinter says he is helpless to stop Shredder as he slays each of the Turtles. Then, as Shredder comes for Splinter, his master Hamato Yoshi appears, but Shredder slays him as well. Splinter says the dreams are getting worse. Michelangelo points out that the dreams are in Japan and this is New York City, so it’s all good.
Leonardo answers a call from April on his Shell Cell. She tells him they’d better get over to her apartment right away. As the group heads for her apartment in the New Battle Shell, they see Shredder’s dark magic enveloping the city. Leonardo tells Donatello to speed up and then Raphael asks someone to tell him what’s happening. Ancient One explains that Shredder is transforming this world into a reflection of his own dark soul. As the landscape changes, re-animated Foot Soldiers and undead creatures begin to rise up through the ground.
Ancient One’s narration ends inside April’s apartment, where everyone has now heard the story. Leonardo says it’s a safe bet he won’t stop until he’s changed the entire planet, but Splinter says he can’t do that without additional energy. He says that he and Ancient One have felt massive fluctuations in the city's ley lines. Splinter explains what ley lines are as April pulls up a map of the city on her laptop. Ancient One points out locations where the ley lines converge. Karai suddenly says "Keystones" and asks Chaplin to tell everyone what they discovered.
