In the IDW continuity, Oroku Yori was the father of Karai, and descendant of Oroku Saki and Kitsune. He turned the Foot Clan from a den of Ninja to a corrupt business conglomerate, exchanging the clan's assassins and spies for businessmen and lawyers. After finding out her family's true past as ninja, Karai wrested control of the clan from her father. She later says that the stress of this incident killed him.
