Oroku Saki, the Shredder, in the continuity of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin was a major antagonist to Splinter and the Ninja Turtles, whose death preceded the series' time periods. However, his legacy is felt in his descendants, who are major antagonistic forces in the story.
History[]
Saki's father Nagi was jealous of the love that the object of his affection, Tang Shen, shared with Hamato Yoshi. After being spurned by Shen, he beat her, and was killed by Yoshi in a fit of rage. Saki vowed vengeance on the Hamato Clan for Yoshi's perceived transgressions. Shen and Yoshi fled to New York with Yoshi's pet rat, Splinter. However, Saki's spies located them and Saki, now known as the Shredder, murdered Yoshi and Shen, fulfilling his revenge. Unbeknownst to Shredder, Splinter escaped and trained four infant turtles to avenge Yoshi.Red Skies at Dawn
At some point, Splinter and the Turtles stormed the Foot compound, ending in Saki's death. Lost Years #1 Saki left behind a daughter, Karai, who would strike a truce with the Hamato Clan. However, over time, the truce broke down, and the Foot Clan attacked Splinter. leading Raphael on a rampage concluding with his death at Karai's hands. Karai remained comatose, while eventually her "bastard" son, Hiroto took over the Foot Clan.
