Opticarns are a species of winged creatures with eyeballs for heads that inhabit the world of Nocturna. Those who stare directly into the eyes of an Opticarn will have their soul stolen.
Raphael and Shadow Jones encountered a flock of Opticarns upon first arriving in Nocturna, and Raphael nearly had his soul devoured before Shadow beheaded it, causing the creature's corpse to spill out consumed souls that quickly distracted the rest of the flock and allowing them to escape.
