The Ninja Turtles are the protagonists of the four movie adaptation comics and, individually, of their respective movie 4 prequel comics.

Doused with a mysterious mutagen ooze, they were transformed into anthropomorphs alongside the rat who found them, Splinter. Splinter, who had previously been the pet of ninja master Hamato Yoshi, instructed them in the way of ninjutsu. They lived in relative peace for fifteen years, until Yoshi's killer, Oroku Saki, returned to New York City to run the Foot Clan as a street gang, endangering the life of their new friend, reporter April O'Neil. As a result of their meddling, Splinter was kidnapped with the intention of execution. Splinter was freed by two more of the turtles' new friends, Casey Jones and April's boss' son, Danny Pennington, while the turtles took the fight to the Foot and eventually, Oroku Saki the Shredder. The turtles were not enough to beat Saki, but Splinter arrived and fought his master's murderer, with the battle culminating in Shredder plunging off of the rooftop and into a garbage truck. When the scientific research company Techno Global Research Industries ("T.G.R.I.") made news headlines with their attempted disposal of nuclear waste bi-product, Splinter decided it was time to show his students that T.G.R.I. was responsible for the mutagen that created them. At the same time, they became aware that the Shredder had returned and was vying for the last of the mutagen, himself, to make his own mutants to get revenge on the turtles. He succeeds and sics mutants Rahzar and Tokka on them, and they defeat the mutants with help of an anti-mutagen from T.G.R.I. technician Jordan Perry. Shredder drinks the last of the mutagen and mutates into a colossal "Super Shredder", but proves to be his own undoing via toppling the dock on top of himself. The Secret of the Ooze
