Synopsis[]
Jennika, as the Nightwatcher, stands on a ledge and watches Korey reunite with his parent. A reporter, Shirley Bee, disusses Nighwatcher's exploits in a voiceover.
Several months ago. Monty picks up Jennika after she has savaged a pair of muggers, cuffing her and putting her in the back of his squad car. He calls in that he's bringing her in for processing, but stresses how rough it's been for her and how much the city owes her and the other Turtles. He asks semi-rhetorically if her overenthusiastic beatdown was a result of making up for Raph's absence, and then asks how's things with Sheena. She declines that her actions were related to that.
Monty's phone rings and he is shocked by what the officer on the other line says. They make a detour for a tunnel where there are already several officers waiting. Lin tells Monty they're facing a "Whatchamacallit" - a larger robotic-looking entity that allegedly has three mutants hostage. It fires a grenade that blasts the cars and disorients everyone. Monty finds that Jenny escaped in the confusion. Lin asks if she wants someone to go after her, but Monty says no need. He thinks he knows where she's gone and knows she can take care of herself.
Jenny descends into the subway tunnel and attacks the Whatchamacallit. It thrashes her, but then an elderly mutant sheep calls it off. She explains that she immigrated as a youth and that her family was slaughtered when she was just a child. After the M-Bomb, she knew that mutantkind would go through the same prejudices her family experienced, so she used some magic from her home country to enchant some armor as a protector. Unfortunately, she may not have completed the spell properly, as her guardian only single-mindedly goes through his mission without thought or regard to anything else, invertedly kidnapping two other mutants he thought he was helping.
The sheep reveals that the cops had shot her in the commotion and she doesn't expect to survive. Thus, she tasks Jennika with caring for her creation, calling her a hero even as she rebuffs that she's been everything from a petty thief to an assassin.
The SWAT team blasts into the tunnel, and chants a spell that puts her creation to "sleep" so that Jenny can take him with her. The SWAT team arrives and recovers the two kidnapees, and finds the endoskeleton husk of the protector as well as the dead sheep woman. Jennika begins putting the protector on herself as an armored suit.
Jennika takes out the entire team, and Monty shows up looking for her. One of the officers presents Jenny's bandana that he recovered. Monty calls Sheena to report what he can. As Jenny, now as the Nightwatcher, roughs up another couple of muggers, Sheena worries about Jenny's mental state and how she's lost herself lately.
