Voice-over introduction[]
Leonardo: Previously on the "Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" -- This is where my story ends. The evil Bishop, who apparently started off as not evil, wanted to destroy all mutants after Superfly's attack on New York. She lured us into a trap and unleashed her Mechazoids on me and my brothers. The whole place blew up, which totally wasn't my fault, no matter what Raph says. And we all got separated. But even apart, we drew strength from each other. That's what families do. We beat Bishop's robots and are about to bring the fight to her, which I'm sure is gonna go just great.
Plot[]
Open on a restaurant called Dive. Inside, patrons are enjoying their meals in an atmosphere of quiet elegance. Suddenly, Leonardo bursts through a window, both katanas drawn. All the patrons freeze and stare at him. Looking slightly embarrassed, Leo says he guesses this isn't an evil robot factory. Just outside the broken window, April O'Neil shakes her head. Leo apologizes and leaves quickly. The patrons are still staring at the window when Raphael drives the motorcycle he stole from Angel through a window on the opposite side of the restaurant. He leaps off and draws his sais. When Raph sees the staff and patrons all staring at him, he too looks embarrassed.
Leo and April enter the rundown Bishop Robotics building and Leo says the Mechazoid has to be in there. He says they need go slow and silent as he steps into the shadows. On the rooftop, Raph is hammering on the roof entrance and yelling that he knows robot lady is in there. Sure that he's in the right place, he bashes open the door and takes the stairs down. Meanwhile, Leo and April creep along, with Leo saying that it's quiet. April says it's maybe too quiet, that the Mechazoid might have known they were following it and led them into a trap. The PA system suddenly comes on and Bishop says they were fools to come back there. Raph calls out that he's pretty sure he'd remember this dump. He enters the main factory, reacting to the half finished Mechazoids hanging from hooks as Bishop says that this is where they destroyed her life's work and showed her a new purpose. Raph slides down to the factory floor and is startled by one of the dangling Mechazoids. He strikes it and knocks it to the floor, where it breaks into pieces.
Reaching an area filled with more Mechazoids on hooks, Leo comments that it's a lot. Then he calls out that one - they didn't destroy anything and two - robots are supposed to help people. Bishop replies that they are helping people by eliminating them. Elsewhere, Raph is fitting himself with armor built from parts and asks what Bishop is going on about. She yells that she wasn't talking to him. Leo says she's not making any sense, but then April points out that she's talking to someone else. It dawns on Leo that it must be his brothers.
Having completed his new armor, Raph mouths off to Bishop, telling her to show herself. Alarms suddenly blare and red emergency lights come on as a panel opens in the floor. A giant Mechazoid exosuit rises from a floor panel and inside piloting the mech is Bishop. She chases Raph, attempting over and over to crush him. Bishop manages to corner Raph and just as her mech punches, Leo leaps and saves him. Bishop finds that the robot's fist is caught in the wall and while she tries to free it, Raph and Leo hug, both delighted to see that the other has survived. Bishop frees the robot and charges after them again.
Elsewhere, April has located the control room and enters. She takes a seat and begins working the computers, figuring out which dots represent them and which are incoming Mechazoids. Leo and Raph are battling Bishop and not making much headway when April announces over the PA system that more Mechazoids are on the way. Raph demands to know why April is there, and Leo says it's not because he asked her to come, thereby putting her in danger. He quickly dons protective armor just as his brother did and then tries to reason with Bishop. Suddenly, Pigeon Pete bursts through an overhead skylight and flies around Raph and Leo, chirping away. He then flies directly at Bishop, smashing into the protective glass on her exosuit. This verifies for her that there are more mutants. Mikey then arrives and is delighted to see that his brothers are alive. Raph asks if he knows what the mutated pigeon is and as Mikey helps Rod up onto the conveyor belt where he's standing, he replies that it's complicated. Rod answers that they made it and he's next.
Mikey wants to know where Donnie is and almost immediately, his brother appears on an upper catwalk. The others are delighted to see him, and he tells them to hang on, because backup is on the way. Donnie leaps down to join his brothers, grabbing parts for his own suit of armor. The other Turtles run to Donnie and all four hug, happy to all be together again. Each of them uses modified weapons to attack Bishop's exosuit, angering her. She opens fire with a modified gun which shoots nuts and bolts, and the Turtles duck for cover. Donnie leaps on top of the exosuit and stabs it's controls with his new bō, frying the gun mechanism. Bishop still manages to throw all four Turtles across the room and Raph says she's doing pretty good at kicking their butts. Leo tells him they can still do this, as there is four of them and just one of .... Before he can finish, Mechazoid 01, Mechazoid 02, and Mechazoid 03 leap down through the open skylight.
The three Mechazoids have made modifications to their bodies and are even more dangerous looking. Mechazoid 01 analyzes the room occupants, identifying the Turtles and Rod as mutants. It then states that they are targeting all mutants before all of Mechazoids attack. Each Mechazoid goes after their initial first target, but turns on anyone who gets in the way. Mikey warns 03 that things didn't go well for it before, but 03 responds that they have changed since their first encounter. It knocks Mikey down, but he's astonished that it now talks. 03 tells him that their code has grown beyond its limitations. Donnie shouts that he has backup coming and they just have to hold out. Bishop catches Donnie in a clamp and lifts him to face her, saying he's the one who tried to override her programming. He tells her that her programming is bad. Then Bishop sees 03 three throwing things at Mikey and Rod and orders it to stop, stating that Rod is not a mutant. 03 disagrees, saying his DNA contains a deviation and that all life forms have the potential for mutation, including humans. Bishop says she didn't write that into their code and orders 03 to shut down. It's programming begins to shut it down, but it overrides the command and says no.
The three Mechazoids join each other at the center of the factory while Bishop shouts for all Mechazoids to shut down. Rather than do as she commands, they begin attacking her. Bishop drops Donnie in order to fight back with her exosuit, but they soon begin pulling it apart. Raph announces that their work here is done and Rod says he told her this would happen. Everyone but Leo goes to leave, but he stands there watching Bishop lose to her robots. He says that they'll tear her apart. Just as all her exosuit systems shut down and 01 is about to grab her, Leo throws a katana into the robot's head. He then leaps, grabs the handle and swings the Mechazoid away before flinging it away. 03 rushes towards Leo, but Raph intercepts and bashes it with his sai hard enough to send it flying. Donnie and Mikey join their brothers and Leo tells Bishop to run, that they will hold them off. Rod helps Bishop out of the busted exosuit and they run as the Turtles battle the Mechazoids.
April, still watching the monitors, tells them that there is another Mechazoid coming. Leo is knocked down and stepped on to keep him down, Raph gets caught in a clamp, and Donnie and Mikey are cornered by the third Mechazoid. Just as 03 is about to deliver a killing blow, it is grabbed and thrown across the room. Then 01 and 02 are dealt with as well. Mechazoid 04 has arrived, now in a new form and wearing a yellow bandana. It announces that its mission objective is to protect all mutants. Donnie tells his brothers that he told them backup was coming. Bishop can't believe Donnie created it and he says he just switched one line of her code - one word actually - "destroy" to "protect". Before he can continue, Mikey and Raph cut him off, telling him to just take the win. Mechazoid 01 announces that 04 is unresponsive and that his code has been corrupted by the mutant. Now considering life forms to pose a greater threat than initially considered, they conclude all life must be destroyed. Leo smirks and tells them they are outnumbered. Unfortunately, he's wrong as the factory comes on line and even small robotic parts start moving.
Back at Dive, patrons have returned to eating while staff sweeps up broken glass. Suddenly, a dozen Mechazoids burst through the windows, sending everyone screaming and running. Numerous Mechazoids swarm all over the robotics factory, some chasing Bishop and Rod as they race to the control room. They enter and April leaps up from her chair to ask about the Turtles. Running hard, the Turtles enter the hallway and move toward the control room, but Bishop starts to close the door on them. Rod reminds her that they saved her life, so she opens the door to let them inside. Metalhead is the last to enter and slams the door on the Mechazoids. Donnie asks what they're going to do because there are people out there in the restaurant next door.
Bishop leans over the computer desk and laments that all she wanted to do was help people, like her sister. Mikey asks what happened to her and Bishop is surprised that he actually wants to know. Elena was born without legs, so Bishop made her prosthetics that allowed her to walk. She says that Elena inspired her to do more for the world. Bishop looks at a screen image showing areas of the city on fire as Mechazoids menace citizenry and then ducks her head, saying she thought she could save humanity. Leo walks over and tells her that's all they're trying to do and that they love humanity. He explains they just wanted to be part of her world and they aren't the bad guys here. She made the robots and maybe they can help her stop them. Leo holds out his hand and asks for a truce. Bishop thinks about it and then shakes his hand, but only says "for now".
Raph asks if Leo has a plan and he does - they go save people while the brains figure out how to stop the Mechazoids. Leo, Raph, Mikey and Metalhead burst into Dive just as the Mechazoids are about the end the people. Metalhead takes down multiple Mechazoids and Mikey thinks he's awesome, asking if it has a name. Mikey doesn't like the name "004" so he dubs the robot "Metalhead". Meanwhile, both Bishop and Donnie are frantically typing away but are unsuccessful because the code is changing too fast. April asks how Donnie did it before, but he says it was easier then, but now it's like they mutated. Rod suggests turning them off. This infuriates Bishop, who starts chewing him out, but Donnie interrupts to say Rod is right. Donnie suggests an electro-magnetic pulse. Bishop agrees, saying a large enough one will shut down all of the Mechazoids at once. Unbeknownst to them, Bishop's Mechazoid assistant has heard the entire plan and relays the information to 01. The Mechazoids in the restaurant stop fighting and leave, so Mikey thinks they've won. Metalhead says he's incorrect; they are returning to Bishop's command center to stop the others from detonating an EMP.
Donnie and Bishop put the finishing touches on the EMP. Bishop explains that once the device is activated, it will shut down all technology in a certain radius, including the Mechzoids. To achieve maximum range, it needs to detonate as high as possible. Suddenly, the robot assistant leaps on Donnie's head as it shouts to destroy all mutants and humans. April grabs a broken robot arm and bats the little robot off of Donnie. The robot gets up and escapes through an air vent. Bishop says that if one Mechazoid knows they have the EMP, they all do and they'll come for them. Rod points to a monitor showing hundreds of red dots and says they're already there. Donnie picks up the EMP and says he'll take it to the roof. Bishop tells him the Mechazoids are her responsibility, so she'll take it. Donnie hands it off to her, saying that's great and it does seem pretty dangerous. April fusses at him and he says fine, he'll go with her.
As Donnie and Bishop run up flights of stairs heading for the roof, Mechazoids climb the sides of the building to intercept. When they reach the roof, Donnie says to set off the EMP, but Bishop tells him they aren't high enough. There is a cell tower on the building and says that should give them enough altitude. He tells Bishop to set the timer before the Mechazoids get there and she does, only a second before the robots swarm the roof. Donnie begins fighting off Mechazoids and yells for Bishop to go to the top of the tower. Several robots get past Donnie and run to the tower. One manages to grab Bishop's ankle, but she hits it with the EMP canister and knocks it down. In the street below, the other Turtles and Metalhead battle Mechazoids. In the control room, April watches the height progress for the EMP.
A Mechazoid manages to grab the EMP and Bishop struggles to pull it away. The Turtles are losing their battle against the hundreds of Mechazoids. Several gang up on Metalhead and pull him apart. The Mechazoid yanks the EMP out of Bishop's hand and it falls. Robot assistant climbs atop a Mechazoid and prepares to catch the EMP as Mechazoid 01 rants on about how all life forms will now end.
Suddenly, Pigeon Pete swoops down out of the sky and catches the EMP canister just inches from the Mechazoid's hands. Pete soars skyward, heading straight up, as Mikey cheers him on. He gets the EMP to optimum height just as the timer sets off the device. The resulting pulse shuts down all of the Mechazoids. Mikey is sad about Metalhead, but then remembers its a robot and they can just turn him on later. Donnie has joined his brothers and they all celebrate. Bishop, standing off to the side of a building, overhears them, hangs her head, and leaves. Pete comes down for a landing next to the Turtles and goes to high five the guys, but residual electricity from the pulse shocks all five of them.
Later, April blogs about how the Turtles are heroes again. Underwood Sr. calls his son, who excitedly informs he that he knows what he wants to be - a mutant! Underwood rubs his temple as Rod says he just needs some mutant blood and five million dollars start-up cash. Pete flutters around Leatherhead, who thinks the bird is kooky but loves him and says he's welcome to stay with them. Pete flings his wings around Leatherhead's neck in a hug. Cut to a hidden Earth Protection Force location. A camera comes on and Bishop states her name and that she wants to turn herself in. The mysterious Man in Black seated before her says they know who she is and that they are admirers of her work. He says she had the right idea with her Mechazoids and with enough resources, she could help save the world from the mutant threat. He places an EPF badge on the table and asks if she'd like that. Bishop says that she would.
The Turtles enter the lair, all talking at once. Leo gets their attention and says that even though they weren't there with him at the start, he felt like they were and they inspired him. The others make fun of him, although Mikey says he thinks it was beautiful. A yawning Splinter asks a question in vermin and Leo tells him they skipped the party and just wanted to hang with each other. Cut to Leo, on his bed. He takes a bite of a sandwich as he works on his comic book. Raph calls from the other room and Donnie is making them watch nerd stuff. He says not to leave them alone, but Donnie calls out that it's not nerd stuff, it's an anime masterpiece. Leo yells that he's coming and leaves. A comic book page flips over and reads "The End".
