The New York Police Department is the primary law enforcement establishment of New York City. The NYPD appears in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and in Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Leonardo's trip topside with Pigeon Pete goes awry when the mutant pigeon draws the ire of New York Police detective Hauser by defecating on him. This brought back his deep seated fear of pigeons and he ordered all available police to be on the lookout for Pete. The New York Police Department located Pete at the pump station and surrounded the building, where they were joined by members of the Earth Protection Force. Leonardo Saddles Up
