The Nanotech (stylized on-screen as Nano Monster Ver. X) is a recurring boss throughout Chapter 2 of the 2003 PC/console game. It is fought in three incarnations ("versions"), ending with its giant junkyard version.
Nano Monster Ver. 2.1 also returns as a challenge in the game's challenge mode.
Story[]
Nano is the center antagonist for Stage 2: Nano. After the opening cutscene for Area 1, the Turtles fight their way onto the end of a long street outside April's shop where Nano Monster Ver. 2 is encountered after some brief dialogue. The turtles defeat it and it then retreats into the subway where the Turtles chase it all the way down and through the city. Eventually the monster is encountered again at the Junkyard, and cornered at the back near a large car pile. After defeating it a fewmore times, it transforms into a larger version dubber Nano Monster Ver. 3. After a lengthy battle, the turtles are able to eventually subdue the monster for good.
Battle[]
Except for Nano Ver. 3, all fights remain relatively the same. It attacks with a predictable three punch flurry. It cannot turn sharply when doing so so quick dashing can easily avoid these punches. when far enough away from it, the Nano Monster will attempt a large body slam towards a player. Doing so will leave the Nano Monster vulnerable to attack after a while. Within close range, the Nano Monster will unleash a junk-filled explosion from within its body, damaging anyone within close range. It ducks its head down before attacking, signifying it's preparation to attack. The player should dodge quickly at this time to avoid this attack. Exclusively at the last fight of Area 5 in Stage 2, Nano Monster Ver. 2.1 will also reach towards the back of a large junk pile and pull out a broken vehichle, tossing it at the player(s) in an attempt to defeat them. The vehicles explode in a similar fashion as Oil Drums.
Nano Monster 2.1 (Junkyard and challenge mode stages) fights with more speed than the Nano Monster Ver. 2 at Area 1 of Stage 2: Nano.
Nano Monster Ver. 3[]
This fight takes place exclusively within Area 6: Junk Yard Rear and this boss is one of the few bosses not to reappear in Challenge mode (most likely due to its size). After some lengthy dialogue on how to defeat the large monster, the battle begins with the hero(es) on top of one the higher elevations of the area. Nano Monster Ver. 3 can launch a powerful straight moving white soundwave blast from its clapped hands aimed at the player. When close to an edge of high elevation, it can extend its arm in a sweep motion. Also, if close enough to its torso on an edge of high elevation, Nano monster can either simply try to smash the character with its hands clapped or extend one of its arms out in an attempt to grab the player. If successful, it will launch the player far behind it. When close enough to its body, Nano can try the familiar junk explosion attack borrowed from its previous versions. If the player is directly below Nano, it will attempt to stomp on the player.
Nano Monster Ver. 3 can only be damaged around the upper torso area close to its head or direct shots to its head. The area is littered with oil drums to launch at the monster and many platforms of varying elevation. If the player is out of oil drums, then the only other option is to jump up to a higher elevation and land some aerial attacks on Nano monster. Then climb back up and repeat until it is defeated.

Trivia[]
- Nano Monster's ultimate demise is played out similar to its cartoon counterpart. After defeating Nano monster Ver.3, a following end stage cutscene will play out in where Donatello uses the magnetic crane to trap the large monster above an incinerator. In an attempt to save Nano, Harry cuts off the power to the crane, but the loss of power drops the monster into the incinerator, thus destroying the Nano Monster for good. Nano Monster never makes a reappearance within the rest of the game or its sequels, possibly signifying its permanent destruction.
