A certain (as of yet unidentified) school in Mutant Town first appears in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #109 by IDW Publishing. The school was an abandoned rundown ruin with broken and boarded up windows, much like the rest of Mutant Town. The building was selected by Mona Lisa and Donatello for possible refurbishment, as Mutant Town no longer had a functioning traditional school and Mona wanted to start teaching classes to the community's children. Mona and Donnie discovered that there were already people in the school—Jo and various other homeless mutants who were squatting in the building. Though initially hostile to the unwelcome visitors, Donnie promised to connect the squatters with electricity and internet access. Successfully placated, Jo agreed that a functioning school might be a good idea. Donnie provided the squatters with internet access and they continued living in the building.
