Muta-Zoo Ray Gun is a device of unknown alien origin, as seen in the 1987 TV series, that transforms any living being into one of six other animals, indicated by an accompanying image on the oversized dial on the back of the weapon. The available options appear to be ant, fly, gerbil, donkey, turtle, or cat.
In the 1987 TV series episode Bye Bye Fly, Baxter Stockman receives the weapon after discovering an ancient trans-dimensional alien ship under the New York city sewers and befriending the ship's sentient computer. The ship, happy to have some company at last, provided Baxter with the trans-mutation gun, which allowed him to have his revenge on Shredder by transforming him into an ordinary housefly. Baxter also used the gun on Michelangelo, turning the Ninja Turtle into a pet gerbil, but Mikey's brothers managed to save the day and return their compadre to his regular reptilian state. The Turtles escaped the ship just before it took off for Dimension X, taking with them a key component of the ship's warp drive, without which the ship disassembled in mid-flight, stranding Baxter in an interdimensional limbo, with a giant alien spider bearing down on him.
The Muta-Zoo Ray Gun was never seen in the series again. However, it is an included accessory for both the NECA and Super7 Baxter Stockman action figures produced in 2020. Due to a production error, the NECA gun is colored white and purple (like the late-model Retro Mutagen Ray Generator from Revenge of the Fly), but the figure also comes with other "Bye Bye Fly" specific accessories - namely Hamster Michelangelo and Fly Shredder - indicating that it is the Muta-Zoo Ray. Of course, due to this error, the piece could be used for either purpose in play/display.
