Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids.

The chronology of the Mirage continuity of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is complicated by the fact that no such complete timeline officially exists.

For the most part, stories within the main series volumes are set in chronological order of publication. But the same cannot be said of most short stories or those published in Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, most of which take place in between other existing stories (interquels) or whose time placement is vague.

Additionally, numerous stories were written by guest talent, and some of these fit into the continuity more or less well, but others are explicitly outside the continuity. In the 2000s when the TMNT property was still owned by Peter Laird, he also clarified that, unless specifically included in or excluded from the continuity, TMNT comics published by Mirage Studios or Image Comics are not part of the continuity unless they were written by Mirage staff, which in the process retroactively excluded the entire Image TMNT continuity written by Gary Carlson, which until then had officially been volume 3 of the Mirage continuity. But since Peter Laird sold the TMNT property to Viacom in 2009, he has further clarified that he no longer has the authority to make such binding pronouncements about Mirage TMNT continuity.

These said decanonized guest stories are written in bold text
