— Mira in The Wasteland Warrior.

In the Mutant Apocalypse timeline, Mira is a mutant meerkat who lost her entire family and has to survive alone whilst searching for The Holy Chalupa, the legendary hermit who could translate the map to the Oasis that had been tattooed on her arm.

Appearance[]

Mira is a humanoid meerkat with pale brown fur and four-fingered hands. She has cream fur on her belly and a dark patch on her head. She has grey eyes with black patches around them, white fangs and black claws.

She wears an orange bandanna around her neck, a brown utility belt draped over her right shoulder, a black torn tank top which exposes her midriff and belly button, earth green pants through which her tail sticks out, a brown belt, black shoes with white symbols on them, and metal spikes on the bottom of her shoes.

She also wears bandages on her left upper arm, right wrist, muzzle and tail. She wears a brown finger-less glove on her right hand while her left hand is bare. She also has the map to Oasis tattooed on her left forearm and a yellow outlined silly face on her tank top.

Biography[]

Born into a mutant meerkat clan named the Wild Meerkat Clan, Mira and the other members of her clan got a tattoo representing the map to the Oasis, the only really livable place on earth. In unknown circumstances, her entire family was destroyed, leaving Mira as the only survivor. Now alone, Mira sets out to find the Oasis.

While camping on the ruins of a building, Mira surprises the arrival of an old turtle mutant, Raphael, and he starts shooting at her after hearing her sneaking around, mistaking her for an attacker. In the skirmish, Mira wraps her electric lasso on Raphael and knocks him out with a shock. Mira then steals Raphael's vehicle, the Shellraiser. Unfortunately for her, Donatello was on board and tied her up with chains before finding Raphael later.

Raphael wants to throw the meerkat out but Donatello is against it as he knows Mira won't survive without food or water, but Raphael remains unmoved enough to at least allow her to stay until the next bomb shelter. During the ride, Mira joins in the conversation about traveling to the Impossible Wasteland, the place she was heading to looking for someone. After an exchange about the loss of her family as the two turtles also lost their brothers, Mira reveals her name as she secretly loosens her chains. When Raphael tells her that he and Donatello are only surviving, Mira expresses her desire for a life better than that, the reason she seeks the legendary Oasis. Raphael replies that it's just a tale, but Mira is convinced of the existence of the Oasis and is sure to find it.

At the stop of an abandoned gas station, Mira takes advantage of Raphael going out to find fuel to subdue Donatello and then attack Raphael when he returns to the vehicle. Despite Mira's persistence, Raphael gets the better of her with his speed and ninja skills, tying Mira up with the cable of a gasoline dispenser. Almost abandoned to his fate, Mira begs Raphael to reconsider as she claims that she alone knows how to pass the Impossible Wasteland and that another turtle is out there, only for Raphael to remain indifferent, leaving Mira behind.

Mira is able to free herself and find the Shellraiser's trail. Hiding below while the turtles are being assaulted by the Honey Badger Ravagers, Mira confronts Verminator Rex, leaving the latter to notice the map tattoo on her arm. Briefly fallen, she grabs a motorbike and routs some badgers before fleeing with Raphael and Donatello. Once safe, Mira helps repair the Shellraiser, now on good terms with the turtles. She tells them that she is looking for a mystic who knows many secrets, and also a turtle nicknamed the Holy Chulapa.

On their way to the Impossible Wasteland, while the two turtles think that the Holy Chalupa could be their lost younger brother, Michelangelo, Mira explains to them that her clan believed that only the Holy Chalupa could translate the mysterious map tattooed on his left arm that would lead to the Oasis. After passing pits of quicksand and avoiding sandstorms, the trio finds themselves confronted by a huge creature moving beneath the ground. Forced to abandon the Shellraiser, they flee towards the rocks, pursued by the monster which turns out to be a giant purple turtle. Fortunately, the beast is quickly calmed by the Holy Chalupa himself, turning out to be Michelangelo, while the monster is in fact Chompy, Raphael's former pet alien turtle.

The group then stops at the dilapidated Antonio's Pizza-Rama serving as Michelangelo and Chompy's home. Inside, the trio is greeted by Ice Cream Kitty holding a machine gun until Michelangelo calms her down. Later, Mira asks Michelangelo about the tattoo and he recognizes it as his creation, confirming the existence of the Oasis. Unfortunately, the group is ambushed by the Honey Badgers and the Scale Tail Clan, Verminator now knowing that Mira has the map to the Oasis, then a general fight begins. Mira manages to defend herself but ends up knocked out from behind and thrown into the cage of an enemy vehicle. Raphael attempts to save her, only for his attempt to end with the pizzeria being destroyed by rocket launcher with the others still inside, and the old turtle being knocked roughly out of the way.

At Reptilicus' lair, Mira is locked in an underground cell and then questioned by Verminator and Reptilicus about the meaning of the card, but Mira refuses to cooperate with them, so Reptilicus leaves her to die of thirst while she becomes more cooperative. As soon as the two leaders exit, Raphael rushes upon the guards and incapacitates them, then freeing Mira. Upon learning that the others did not make it, Mira comforts Raphael with a hug and a thank you before the two flee following the escape alarm. Unfortunately, they are captured by lizards and taken to the Pit.

Kept as a prisoner, Mira watches Raphael's arena fight against Verminator and Reptilicus who initially appear to be winning, but thanks to Mira's encouragement, Raphael returns to the fight and takes it upon the two mutants. Following this victory, Scale Tail Clan and Honey Badgers Ravagers choose Raphael as their new leader, as well as Donatello, Michelangelo and Chompy are revealed to still be alive.

Now accompanied by new allies, the group goes to the Oasis using the map. Stopping in front of one of the few remaining trees on Earth, Mira is amazed since she had never seen anything like it in her entire life. The next day, while crossing the canyon, they are suddenly ambushed by Maximus Kong, Verminator's master, who demands that Mira be delivered to him but Raphael refuses to give in to his demands. The final confrontation ensues, leading to the rapid massacre of the Scale Tail and Honey Badgers. Mira confronts Verminator herself on a motorcycle, and manages to cause him to crash into the rock wall. Ultimately, Maximus' war vehicle crashes at the end of the canyon.

A defeated Maximus is revealed to actually be a mutated and amnesiac Leonardo, the Turtles' older brother. Once Leonardo remembers his true identity and his brothers, Mira and the turtles finally reach the Oasis, their new home.

Trivia[]

  • Mira is the first meerkat mutant ever introduced in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.
  • Like the majority of mutants in the alternate future, Mira was born a mutant and was never an ordinary animal or human.
  • Mira's hostile attitude is similar to true meerkats, who usually fight among themselves whenever they encounter another pack of meerkats and they are aggressive towards other animals. Likewise, female meerkats may tend to travel alone when leaving their pack.
