Cat mutant April O'Neil controlled by Shredder’s mind control collar

A mind control collar is used by Shredder to enslave a mutated April O’Neil during season 2 of 1987 TV aeries, featured in the episode The Catwoman from Channel 6.

Shredder orders Rocksteady to attach the collar around April O'Neil's neck, whom he had caged after she has been transformed into a cat following the matter transporter incident. Shredder used a remote control to control her thoughts and ordered her to kill Splinter.

April is able to briefly resist Shredder’s commands after Splinter is able to communicate with her, but the collar’s effects ultimately overwhelm her resistance. Leonardo uses his Katana to cut the device off, breaking Shredder’s control over April.

Trivia[]

  • The episode does not reveal how Shredder obtained the device, as it was apparently inside the warehouse the villains were using as a hideout to contain the Matter transporter. Despite no obvious plan to use the collar until he deduced the nature of April’s accident, Shredder seemed familiar enough with its properties to know how it would effect a mutated human. Shredder also stated that the matter transporter’s effects upon April would wear off over time, but the collar could keep her under his control permanently.
  • The collar was not incorporated into Playmates ToysMutatin’ April action figure but was included as an accessory in the NECA Channel 6 Newsroom box set largely inspired by the “The Cat Woman from Channel Six”.
