Summary[]

New York City. The Turtles and April pilot the Megazord against the gigantic Bebop and Rocksteady. They soon get the hang of the controls and hold their own. The group wonders if they should attack the nearby Technodrome or focus on the mutants, and choose to summon the Power Sword to slice into the Technodrome. Their attack is halted when they are ambushed by the Dragonzord, piloted by Shredder using the Dragon Dagger from a nearby rooftop. The Dragonzord's tail slices a gash in the chest plate of the Megazord and it loses power and falls back. They struggle to get to their feet as Bebop, Rocksteady, and the Dragonzord loom over them. Leonardo asks Alpha 5 for help and Alpha tries to reactivate the controls remotely. Zordon tells the Rangers the Turtles need help, and Billy says they're almost ready, the Turtles just need to hold on.

Donatello engages the auxiliary power and gets the Megazord on its feet. Raphael swings the Power Sword at the Dragonzord, but is blocked by its tail. Shredder states he would have preferred the Megazord intact, but destroying it with the Turtles inside will have to suffice. He then tells Bebop and Rocksteady to enjoy themselves. Rocksteady rams the Megazord with his horn and Shredder tells the Turtles farewell, that they both deserved better. From behind him, a new arrival says maybe they can oblige with – Turtle Power! It is Metalhead in a new, gigantic form, piloted by the Rangers. Billy says thanks to Don’s Metalhead android and his miniaturizing ray, along with some modifications, they have an instant emergency Zord. Trini tells them to geek out later and Jason Lee Scott adds that they have a city to save.

Kimberly engages the energy banks and Metalhead fires the Turtle Cannons, which bowls the Dragonzord over. The Turtles get back into action, hitting Bebop with the Megazord. Angered that someone hit his buddy, Rocksteady lowers his head and charges Metalhead, shouting “eat horn”. Metalhead catches his long horn and delivers an electrical charge which knocks Rocksteady out. The Megazord catches Bebop and throws him across the park. With those two down, the Turtles and Rangers turn their attention to Shredder in the Dragonzord. They tell him to surrender and hand over the Power Coin. Shredder tells them to come and get it. Don tells Billy that their crown cannon is locked in but they’re running on empty. Electricity buzzes across Metalhead’s body and it transfers power to the Megazord. Don is thrilled and proceeds to fire, which fries the Dragonzord. Shredder is disappointed, but says their efforts are pointless. He communicates with Rita, telling her to teleport him out, and then with Stockman to order him to target the remaining Zords. As he teleports away, he says that if he can’t posses them, no one will.

The Technodrome’s weaponized “eye” begins firing electrical charges at the Megazord and Metalhead. Raph says that the ship has a lot of firepower and that they are running on empty. Zordon then informs them that the Megazord possesses innate adaptive capabilities. Before it’s too late they must utilize them by bringing their vessels together, combining their strengths and defending their weaknesses. As he speaks, the Megazord and Metalhead vessels begin to reshape, with their parts separating and reconnecting into each other. Once this process is complete, a single huge new vessel is formed, which they call The Turtle Megazord.

The Turtle Megazord charges the Technodrome, it’s Power Sword drawn. With a huge bound, the Turtle Megazord leaps high above the Technodrome, and then comes down to strike the ship an incredible blow. The resultant power of that strike drives the Technodrome back into the ground, where it vanishes. Mikey is so thrilled he says that they totally have to keep Metalhead like this.

Command Center. The Turtles and Rangers discuss Shredder’s escape with Zordon. He still has Tommy’s coin and there is know telling what Shredder and Rita plan to do with it next. Raph says that during the fight, Shredder said something about being “the only one” who could use the Power Coins. Leo adds that if that’s true, Shredder and Rita are about to become the most powerful people on the planet. Zordon is reluctant to send them when the Rangers do not have their powers. Suddenly Billy bursts out with something about flipping the polarity and Don says shift the balance, then Alpha joins in with something about reformat and rescan. Then all three tell Zordon they may have a solution to their problem, but it’s a bit of a long shot.

Moon Palace, Moon. Shredder wants assurances that Rita can properly enhance a magical beam so that it will cover the entire planet, making it impossible for anyone other than those he chooses to wield the Power Coins. Rita finds it surprising that after all he’s seen he still doesn’t trust her magical abilities. Shredder counters that trusting her has cost him his army, his mutants and his home. He threatens to cast her into the stars and claim her fortress as his own if the plan doesn’t work. Rita says that a guest should never threaten the master of the house. A voice from behind them calls out with the question “What about us…can we threaten you?” The question is posed by Jason, who is accompanied by his Ranger partners, in full gear, the Turtles, Casey Jones and Tommy.

The Turtles go after Rita, who mocks them for being freaks who protect the very people who hate them. She wants to know if this fight will be their legacy, to die alone with no recognition or reward. Raph tells her that’s what heroes do and Don adds that they’re ninjas, if you see them, they’re doing something wrong. Rita begins to fire up her magic wand, but Mikey smacks her with his nunchaku before she can strike. Raph gives his brother a thumbs up and compliments his timing, telling Mikey he loves him. Mikey says he loves him too.

Casey battles Goldar, saying that when he woke up today, he didn’t think he’d be fighting a golden gorilla on the Moon. Kimberly tells him you never get used to it. Billy leaps at Shredder, demanding the return of the coin, while Zack rushes him from the other side. Shredder slams them both and sneers that their skills are weak; do they honestly think they can best him in hand-to-hand combat? Zack flips past him again and says they don’t have to; all they need to do is keep him occupied. He then calls out to Tommy, who zaps Shredder with a molecular disrupter. The Ranger power leaves Shredder and the stolen Power Coin falls free. Tommy stands over Shredder and tells him that he expected a little more resilience from a ninja master. Then he punches Shredder, sending him flying. Tommy leans down to pick up his Power Coin and then morphs into the Green Ranger. He then tells Shredder it’s over, but Shredder says he’ll die before he surrenders. Suddenly a force field surrounds Shredder and he demands to know what sorcery caused it. Rita calls him a metal-headed moron as she takes credit for it. She tells him unless he wants to be handed over to his enemies, he’s going to take her to Dimension X and introduce her to his allies. Shredder snarls at her treachery, and asks if this was her plan all along – which of course it was. The entire group portals away in a flash. Leo says that just once, he wishes they wouldn’t get away. Jason agrees, but adds that a victory is a victory.

The Rangers accompany the Turtles back to their lair. Tommy goes to Master Splinter and apologizes, saying his actions put his sons in danger. Splinter tells him mistakes were made, but thankfully nothing Tommy did cannot be undone. He says that Leonardo will return the battery he “borrowed”, Donatello will destroy Shredder’s machine, and when their enemies do eventually return, they will all face them as friends. Jason visits with Leo and the two discuss fighting tactics. In the kitchen, Mikey and Zack talk pizza toppings. In Don’s lab, he and Billy talk about what Don is going to do with Metalhead. Seated on the couch are April and Kimberly, the latter thanking the older girl for all her help. April says she got to be a hero instead of just reporting on it with the bonus of looking fantastic in pink. In the dojo, Tommy asks Tyler if he’s sure he wants to stay in New York because he could come stay with him in Angel Grove. Tyler tells him the he and the other ex-Foot soldiers have a lot to make up for. Casey tells Tommy not to worry, that he’ll keep them in line. Tommy thanks him and reminds Tyler that if he ever needs him, he’s here – because they’re family. Then Raph calls out to Tommy and says that before he scurries back to Angeltown, the two of them aren’t done yet. Tommy asks if he hasn’t knocked Raph around enough already, but Raph says if memory serves, they are even. Then he suggests they break that tie and Tommy says he’s game. Trini wants to know if they should stop them, but Don tells her to let them get it out of their system. Mikey says he’s making popcorn as Tommy morphs into the Green Ranger and he and Raph start their showdown.

The End.

Trivia[]

  • The cover created by Diego Galindo is based on Avengers #1 created by Jack Kirby.
  • When Tommy takes away Shredder's morphing ability, he tells him "I was expecting a little more resilience from a ninja master". This is similar to what Shredder said to him after caging Tommy in Issue 2.
