Summary[]
The Technodrome. An enraged Rita Repulsa attacks Shredder, screaming that he’s corrupted the Dragon Power Coin. Shredder says he merely bent it to his will – as he does most things. He finds the speed, strength and raw power to be intoxicating. Even as he fights Rita, he speaks of how his senses are like razors, his muscles like steel. The world slows, yet he does not. While the pair battle, Bebop opens fire on Baboo, Squatt and Finster, who have ducked for cover. Goldar strikes Rocksteady and then shouts for his cowardly comrades to rally to his side. Rita tells Shredder that he is not the first to be seduced by the power coins, but his avarice will be his undoing. She brags that she has defeated far greater than him as she sends him flying. He rushes back, saying he’s broken one ranger today and will soon break them all. Will she stand in his way… or by his side? She replies she’s only ever been on one side, her own. The pair collide with a loud explosion. The minions halt their fight as they try to determine if their masters are dead.
The smoke clears to reveal the pair are still fighting. When Shredder mentions that “they” were right about Rita in that she is quite formidable, she wants to know who he’s talking about. Shredder explains that he has powerful allies in another dimension. They know much of the Rangers and believe he and Rita can do great things together. Rita says she bows to no one and Shredder says neither does he, but perhaps a limited partnership in service of – she finishes the sentence by saying “the destruction of our enemies”. Rita says that when they are done, the two of them will finish their little dance, to which he replies he’d expect nothing less.
Elsewhere in the Technodrome, Tyler paces in front of the cage holding Tommy, who asks if that’s his reward for stabbing a friend in the back. He tells Tyler to remove his mask, since he knows who he is, then demands that Tyler open the cage. Tyler says he won’t dishonor his clan and Tommy tells him he knows what it’s like to be brainwashed. Tyler becomes angry, saying he wasn’t as lucky as Tommy. This confuses Tommy, who reminds him they were on the same streets fighting since they were seven. Tyler is mad because Tommy left, but Tommy didn’t leave, he got adopted. He wants to know what Tyler expected him to do, refuse to leave the boys’ home? It turns out that Tyler is upset because he was left behind and had to find a way to survive on his own. But then he found the Foot and they gave him strength, purpose, and people who’ll watch his back. Tommy tells him that’s in exchange for his soul, and tells him he’s risked his life, broken the law and lied to friends just to track Tyler down, but he doesn’t even know who Tyler is anymore.
Turtle Lair. Mikey enters with two large pizzas. Because he didn’t know what everyone liked, he went with what he terms traditional: Jellybeans and Sausage, and Butterscotch, Onions and Anchovies. Jason asks if they have any real people food, but Don wants to know what he means – don’t people eat pizza? Zack grabs a slice, takes a bite and tells Jason to try it, because he personally might never go back to pepperoni. Billy has joined Splinter in his nook and asks the question “Did the mutagen turn you from a rat into a person or.. A person into a rat?” Splinter’s answer is “exactly”, which gives Billy pause for thought. Trini and Raph are both working out and Trini asks the Turtle why he’s angry all the time – is it the isolation or maybe the false public perception? Raph answers that he’s not angry and wants to know who said he was angry, guessing it was Mikey. Trini thinks his life isn’t so bad, since he doesn’t have to go to school or lie to his friends and family. Raph scowls and says anytime she wants to trade hard lives to let him know. April finds Kimberly seated in Don’s lab and understands she’s worried about Tommy, but she should try and eat. Kimberly says she’s not worried anymore, she’s pissed.
Command Center. Alpha 5 reaches out to the Rangers to tell them he thinks he's finally located Tommy. A massive discharge of morphin energy was detected just outside the city of Angel Grove. Zordon adds that they can’t get a precise lock on Tommy’s location, but will teleport the Rangers as close as they can. He adds that they should proceed with caution. As the Rangers prepare to teleport out of the lair, Leonardo asks if they want the Turtles to tag along, but Jason tells him until they know what’s going on with Tommy, it’s probably best they talk to him alone. They morph into their Ranger uniforms and are quickly gone, leaving Don to wonder if their clothes are on underneath their outfits.
Dockyards. The Rangers arrive and begin their search for Tommy. Zack asks Jason if he can invite Mikey to hang with them in Angel Grove when all this is over. Jason says yes, which is good because Zack already invited him for next week. Billy adds that he invited Donnie too. Trini and Kimberly are in another area of the dockyards. Trini feels like they are walking into a trap and Kimberly hopes to find Tommy before the Foot do. In the yard below them, they spot a Green Ranger and believe it’s Tommy – but it’s not. Shredder zaps them with the same molecular disrupter he used on Tommy and both Rangers are forcefully unmorphed. The other three Rangers come running, but before their friends can warn them, Shredder hits them with the disrupter as well.
The Rangers help each other to their feet and Jason tries to activate his Power Coin, to no avail. Shredder tells him not to bother, because this won’t last that long as he strikes, knocking Jason down again. Alpha 5 alerts Zordon to some sort of disruption field surround the Ranger’s position and tells him that their morph signatures are gone. Zordon tries communicating with Jason, then Zack, and then Trini, but gets no response. Alpha can’t teleport the Rangers away and wants to know what to do. Zordon tells him to contact the Turtles and pray they can get help to the Rangers in time. Meanwhile, the Rangers battle the Shredder, who tells them their skills are considerable, but they lack stamina. He lifts Billy by his neck, telling him they don’t deserve their powers and who are they without them, but Billy says he’s about to find out. Trini leaps and kicks Shredder hard, forcing him to release Billy. The Rangers attack him, demanding to know what he’s done to Tommy and Shredder says the same thing he’s done to them.
Suddenly, a familiar voice sounds from above and Shredder looks up to see Casey Jones leaping down at him. Casey hits him with a cricket bat, knocking him to the ground. When the Rangers ask who he is, calling him “crazy goalie”, Casey tells them his name and that the Turtles couldn’t beam in, so they sent him. Billy says he hopes Casey brought fifteen more like him because they might need them, pointing to the Foot Ninja who’ve arrived to join Shredder. Jason tells the other Rangers that if they try to win this fight without their powers… Trini finishes that they’ll lose and they have to run. As the Rangers and Casey flee, Billy says that something is jamming their communications. All they have to do is get outside of the disruption field. Shredder shouts that they are cowards and tells them to run if they must, but he’ll possess their Power Coins by sunrise or their friend’s life is forfeit. Kimberly says Jason’s name, and he replies that he knows. They get a signal from Zordon, and Trini starts to tell him to wait, but the Rangers and Casey are teleported out before she can finish the sentence. Shredder reports to Rita that the Rangers are now powerless and she may begin when ready. Rita then tells Finster to send down his monster.
Times Square. Ted Neilman, a reporter for Channel 6 news, is reporting on Broadway ticket sales. There is a loud explosion nearby, and the news crew turns to see a huge anthropomorphic lion monster with a mane of fire, accompanied by Putty Patrolers. The lion shouts that he’s Wyldfyre and he’s going to show New York how to party.
Command Center. The Rangers are watching the events in Times Square in the View Globe. Billy does not believe the attack is a coincidence. Jason replies that if he means Rita sending a monster to New York the second they lose their powers, then not a chance. He states that she has to be working with whoever that guy was who attacked them and Casey tells them he’s the Shredder – big time bad news. Jason tells Zordon that whatever Shredder hit them with is preventing them from being able to morph. Zordon offers the information that during teleportation, Alpha detected a molecular disruption field affecting their DNA. The Power Coins remain active, but the five teens cannot unlock them. Trini wants to know what they’re going to do about Wyldfyre and Kimberly adds that Shredder’s going to kill Tommy if they don’t turn over their Coins. Then Billy says that considering the Coins still work and they need to be in two locations at once, he may have a radical suggestion.
The Turtles and April stand before Zordon in the Command Center. All five are holding a Power Coin, and Mikey wants to know if they get to pick their own colors.
