[Opening sequence and theme song.]

[Episode begins with the pages of a comic book.]

Doctor Dome "Bugman, no! I destroyed you!"

Brick Bradley/Bugman "Wrong, Dr. Dome! Or should I say, Dr. Dumb."

Dr. Dome "Bug off, Bugman. One blast of my Raid-o gas bug bomb, and you go splat."

Bugman "
[Hacking and coughing.]

Raid-o!
"

[Dr. Dome laughs. Suddenly the comic is yanked out of Michelangelo’s hands.]

Splinter "Michelangelo!"

Michelangelo "Uh, what? Huh? Hey! Come on, man. I'm at the most epic part!"

Splinter "Man? Is that how you refer to me? What is next? Rat-face dude guy?"

Michelangelo "I'm sorry, Master Splinter. But this is critical! Bugman just got zapped by Dr. Dome and I have to see how he gets out of it."

Splinter "Consider yourself zapped by me and you are not going to get out of it. You are late for ninja practice. Bugman will have to struggle without you for the next hour."

[The turtles practice their martial arts. Splinter hands Michelangelo his turtle line.]

Splinter "Three perfect throws... blindfolded."

[He blindfolds Michelangelo. The other turtles start rapping.]

Raphael "~Well, hey, there, bro’, it's Michelangelo~"

Leonardo "~The g-g-great but late~"

Donatello "~Michelangelo, whoa~"

Michelangelo "~Cool your jiving, hear my rap and watch my hook go whap, whap, whap~"

[He tosses the turtle line onto an overhead pipe.]

Raphael "All right. Not even Bugman could do that."

Michelangelo "Ho, whoa. That's music to my ears. Especially since my eyes aren't working."

[The electricity starts acting up and the lights go out.]

All "Huh? What? Come on!"

Donatello "Grab your flashlights, guys. Let's find out what's happening with the electricity."

Michelangelo "Hey, compadres, what's going on? Don't leave a dude in the dark.
[He removes his blindfold.]

Very funny. Turn the lights out on a dude wearing a blindfold. I'm laughing so hard I could bust a gut.
[He returns to his room, lights a candle, and picks up his comic book.]

Well, the joke's on them, 'cause I get to go back to Bugman.
"

[He hears someone calling out in the distance.]

Bugman "Help! Help! Help!"

Michelangelo "If that's another one of their gags, those dudes picked the wrong sucker."

Bugman "Help! Help!"

Michelangelo "Whoa, that's no joke!"

[He races off to investigate. In the water, a man clings to a piece of wood. Chains bind him and he appears to be weakening.]

Bugman "Help..."

Michelangelo "Hang on, dude, help is one the way!
[He dives into the water and grabs the man just as he sinks below the surface.]

A turtle's gotta do what a turtle's gotta do.
"

[At the turtles’ lair, Michelangelo stands over the man as he starts to come around.]

Bugman "Phew..."

Michelangelo "Coming around? Oh, good.
[He’s holding the chains and they glow.]

You'll be okay in just a few—
"

Bugman "The chains! Get rid of them! Quick! Hurry!"

Michelangelo "Huh? Chill out, dude. It's just a—"

Bugman "Don't you understand? It's leestanite!"

Michelangelo "Leestanite!"

[He shouts and throws the chains away from them.]

Bugman "Oh, thanks. That stuff robs me of my power. I can't move."

Michelangelo "You're Brick Bradley!"

Bugman "Uh-huh. That's right. You know me?"

Michelangelo "Know you? If you're Brick Bradley, and you're affected by leestanite, then there's only one dude you could be! You're Bugman, man!"

Bugman "That's right. I'm Bugman. And I'm counting on you to keep my identity a secret. I have many enemies."

Michelangelo "I know.
[He indicates a huge stack of comics.]

I have many comic books. You're my favorite mutant super-hero of all time!
"

Bugman "Eh, coming from you, that's saying something. You must promise you won't tell anyone I'm here."

Michelangelo "Dude, on my shell and hope to die. I won't even whisper it to anyone."

Bugman "Ah, thank you."

Michelangelo "Woo-hoo-hoo!
[He does a cartwheel.]

Bugman himself is staying in my pad! Woo-hoo! Well, I said I wouldn't whisper it.
"

Bugman "I-I'm still a little weak from the leestanite."

Michelangelo "Well, maybe while you get your strength back, you could kinda tell me how you got here."

Bugman "Sure thing, if you'd like."

Michelangelo "All right! Tubuloso! I just love a good flashback, don't you?"

Bugman "I guess my story begins when I was a kid. I'd always been fascinated by insects of every sort.
[Flashback to a science building.]

By the time I got to college, I knew I was going to make entomology, the study of insects, my life's work.
[Bradley peers at an insect through a microscope.]

I was obsessed with the effects of light spectrums on different species. Termites, spiders, flies, grasshoppers, wasps, scorpions, ants, roaches.
[He walks over to a large container filled with all sorts of insects and flips over some overhead light rays.]

Then one day, during an unusual experiment I had an accident.
"

[He trips on a cord and falls into the container, which is spinning as it’s bombarded with light.]

Bradley "Whoa! Stop it! No! No! Aah! No!"

[He screams.]

Bugman "I would discover later that the intense light fused the insects DNA molecules with my own. And whenever I became angry, my emotions sent strange messages coursing through my mutant blood."

[He approaches a bank. Thieves are tossing bags of money into the back of a truck.]

Thief "Okay, let's peel rubber."

[The truck bears down on Bradley as he’s crossing the street. He leaps out of the way.]

Bradley "Watch it, you idiots!"

[Bradley lies on the sidewalk, where’s he’s fallen.]

Bugman "Feeling intense anger, my body underwent an amazing transformation.
[Bradley begins sprouting insect parts.]

And I became Bugman! Raaar!
"

Michelangelo "Whoa! Cowabunga!"

[Flashback shows Bugman jumping high, smashing through telephone poles, and flying over the city.]

Bugman "I could leap like a grasshopper, gnaw like a termite and fly like a wasp."

Michelangelo "What about float like a butterfly, sting like a bee?"

Bugman "No, some other guy already did that."

[Bugman spots the thieves truck and lands on the street in front of them. They come to a screeching stop.]

Thief "Hey! What the-- Whoa!"

[Bugman lifts the entire truck into the air.]

Bugman "Like the tiny ant, I could lift thirty times my own weight.
[He flies with the truck over the State Prison and lands in the prison yard.]

And best of all, I delivered.
"

[Back to the present.]

Bugman "Since then, whenever my emotions overpower me, I turn into... Bugman."

Michelangelo "And I bet I know which dude bugs you the most."

Bugman "You do?"

Michelangelo "For sure! It's that creepazoid, Electrozapper!"

[He holds up a comic book with Electrozapper on the cover.]

Bugman "Right! I surprised him in his secret hideout near the power plant. It was our fight that knocked out the lights. I had him whipped! Until he brought out the leestanite."

Michelangelo "I've got a totally epic notion! How about if we take on Electrozapper together?"

Bugman "You mean you and I?"

Michelangelo "Yes! Bugman power and turtle power together at last!"

[They clasp hands and then both turn to the viewer and point, breaking the fourth wall.]

Both "Because you asked for it."

[Michelangelo fires up the turtle van. The lights in their garage are on.]

Michelangelo "Bodacious! My buds must have found the fuse box."

Bugman "Are you sure you want to go through with this, Michelangelo?"

Michelangelo "Do turtles like pizza?"

Both "Safety belts on."

Bugman "Okay then, let's ride!"

[They take off in the van.]

Michelangelo "Cowabunga!"

[The other turtles enter the lair and Donatello flips on the light switch.]

Leonardo "Nice repair job, Donatello."

Donatello "I hope it lasts. Our electrical current has been real weird lately."

[Raphael finds a note pinned to the wall and pulls it down.]

Raphael "Yeah? Not as weird as the Cowabunga Kid."

Leonardo "Michelangelo? What's he done now?"

[Raphael paraphrases the note he’s holding, which is from Michelangelo.]

Raphael "He's gone off with Bugman to fight Electrozapper."

[They all start laughing.]

All "Bugman! Oh, boy!"

Raphael "Oh, what a joker. That's his funniest gag yet!
[They all laugh again.]

Oh, he slays me.
"

Leonardo "Oh, boy."

[Cut back to Michelangelo and Bugman.]

Michelangelo "Hang on, Bugman!"

[He speeds through the sewers and then out through a large water pipe.]

Bugman "That's the power plant up ahead."

Michelangelo "And Electrozapper's hideout! That dude is in for a world class shock."

Bugman "It's sporting of you to help me take on Electrozapper this way, Michelangelo."

Michelangelo "Hey, no problemo. What's a fellow mutant for? Uh, when's that Bugman bit kick in?"

Bugman "My emotional anger is high enough, but somehow nothing's happened to my body. Maybe I'm still feeling the effects of the leestanite."

Michelangelo "Uh, yeah! That's probably why."

[Shift to the Channel 6 news van, which is parked near the power plant. April is inside, speaking to her boss on the van’s communication equipment.]

Burne Thompson "April, where are you? We can't tie up the news van on some ridiculous power failure story."

April O’Neil "Trust me, chief. My nose for news tells me there's a big story here."

Thompson "Well, you just powder that nose and get back here right now!  Understood?"

April "What's that, chief? I can't hear you.
[She manipulates the controls.]

There's too much static.
[She cuts off the monitor.]

What's a little static between friends? Or between me and Burne, for that matter.
[She steps out of the van.]

There's something strange going on at this power plant. I feel it in my bones. I don't see anything yet. But I'll keep looking.
[An antennae sticking up through the ground brings the sound of her voice into the underground hideout belonging to Electrozapper.]

I just wish Burne Thompson had more confidence in my reporter's instincts. I've got to prove to him that I can dig as deep as the next person.
"

Electrozapper "Except when the next person happens to be Electrozapper!
[He laughs.]

I certainly do get a charge out of myself.
[He zaps one of his machines and pulls electricity from it.]

More... More! When I reach my full capacity, I'll be able to control electrical current anywhere! I'll be all powerful! All powerful!
"

[April walks around and spots the antenna. She wiggles it around.]

April "Hmm, what's this? Some sort of antenna."

[Michelangelo pulls up behind her in the turtle van.]

Michelangelo "Yo, April! Looking for a lift?"

April "Michelangelo? What are you doing here?"

Michelangelo "We're here on some serious bug business."

April "We?"

Michelangelo "This is my buggy bud-- I mean my buddy, Brick."

Bugman "Hi. The pleasure is mine."

[He clasps her hand in both of his.]

Michelangelo "He's a famous superhero."

April "He sure is. The incredible hunk."

[Bugman spots the antenna.]

Bugman "Hmm... How long has this thing been sparking?"

April "I don't know. I just got here."

Michelangelo "Trouble in River City?"

Bugman "It's Electrozapper's secret listening device. I'll take care of it.
[He tries bending the metal but is unsuccessful.]

I guess I'm still weakened by the leestanite.
"

Michelangelo "No sweat. I'll handle this ninja style. Hi-ya!"

[He leaps up and kicks the antenna, breaking it. Inside Electrozapper’s hideout, something explodes.]

Electrozapper "What's going on?
[His electricity gathering machine explodes.]

Blazing electrons! Someone has sabotaged my antenna!
[He enters a lift pad.]

Whoever it is will pay dearly. And on my charge account.
"

[He holds up two fingers and electricity forms between them. Then he presses a button and is lifted to the surface. Up top, April questions Michelangelo.]

April "Michelangelo, why did you do that?"

Electrozapper "Yes, why did you do that?"

Bugman "Electrozapper."

Electrozapper "Bugman."

April "Electrozapper? Bugman? Did I stumble into a comic book convention?"

Michelangelo "Uh-uh. This is the real thing."

April "I don't know who you are, but you're going to be on the eleven o’clock!"

[She aims a camera at Electrozapper.]

Electrozapper "No, you are! Under late-breaking flashes!"

[He shoots a bolt of electricity at her and hits the ground near her feet. April starts running.]

April "Oops! Take five."

[Michelangelo spins his turtle line.]

Michelangelo "Hey, zap-dude, how come you pick on defenseless dudettes?"

[He tosses the turtle line and Electrozapper zaps it out of the air before it reaches him.]

Electrozapper "They're a lot easier to beat than men with muscles, that's why. Now, on with the fun!"

[He shoots at April, but misses and hits a steel lattice tower. It begins to fall and April is in the way.]

Michelangelo "April, look out!
[Michelangelo leaps and grabs April, pulling her out of the way. Michelangelo then approaches Bugman.]

I could use a little help here, Amigo. Aren't you ticked off enough, yet?
"

Bugman "I... I'm trying!"

Michelangelo "Maybe this'll help!"

[He stomps on Bugman’s foot.]

Bugman "Ow! Hold on, I think it's happening!
[He transforms.]

Raar!
"

Michelangelo "There! Now see what you've done."

April "How totally repulsive. A six-foot tall insect."

Bugman "Raaaar!"

April "And to think, I almost had a thing for that thing."

Michelangelo "Way to go, Bugman! Let's take him! April, you chill out and don't move."

April "Ow! I wouldn't if I could. My ankle's twisted."

[Electrozapper tries zapping Bugman, who is flying around and dodging every shot.]

Electrozapper "Come back and fight like a man, you insect!"

[Bugman flies fast circles around him and then tries to sting him. Electrozapper ducks and avoids the stinger.]

Bugman "Suffer my scorpion venom, villain."

Electrozapper "You know what they say; it don't mean a thing if you ain't got that sting."

Michelangelo "You're about to be injured by a ninja.
[He does several forward flips and then leaps to kick the villain, but Electrozapper zaps him first.]

Ah!
"

Bugman "I'll take care of this, Michelangelo.
[He flies down towards Electrozapper and then shoots webs, which wrap around the villain.]

Gotcha! Welcome to my party, said the spider to the fly.
"

[Cut to the lair. Donatello is seated on the couch reading a Bugman comic book.]

Donatello "This Bugman is pretty interesting. From a purely scientific point of view, of course."

Raphael "Come on, a guy who turns into a creepy crawler? Gimme a break."

Leonardo "Michelangelo's note gave us a good laugh, but I wonder where he really is."

Donatello "You don't suppose..."

Raphael "Oh, yeah. Sure. Right. He and Bugbreath are out somewhere zapping the Electric Zipper or whatever his name is."

Leonardo "I know it sounds silly, but maybe this Bugman is real."

All "Nah."

[Return to the power plant, where Electrozapper lies on the ground wrapped in webbing.]

Michelangelo "Woo-hoo-hoo!"

Bugman "Had enough, Electrozapper?"

Electrozapper "I have one surprise left. One that's really going to bug you."

[He rolls over and shoots electric beams from the contacts on his fists. The beams destroy the top of a nearby boulder and exposes a glowing rock.]

Bugman "Agh! Leestanite!"

[Bugman falls to the ground and changes back to his human form.]

Michelangelo "Bugman! I mean, Brick! What's happening? There's not supposed to be any more leestanite!"

[Electrozapper stands up and removes the webbing.]

Electrozapper "And the bad guys aren't supposed to win, either."

[He hits Michelangelo full in the chest with an electrical charge.]

Michelangelo "Whoa!"

[Bugman and Michelangelo are next shown trapped inside clear chambers in Electrozappers underground hideout.]

Electrozapper "Welcome to your electronic tombs. When this reaches full power, every drop of energy will be drained from your pitiful bodies. You'll be just empty shells."

[He pulls a switch and sparks run up and down the chambers. The switch activation also sets off a fire above ground and that fire quickly surrounds April, who is sitting on the ground because of her ankle.]

April "No! My ankle. I can't move! Help! Help! Help! Help! Anyone, please!"

[Cut to the lair, where the three turtles are watching a movie. The picture turns to static.]

Raphael "Ah, rats! What a time for the TV to static out."

Leonardo "These monster movies always end the same way; helicopters blast him to bits."

Raphael "Oh, thanks a lump. You had to go and ruin it for me."

[There’s an electronic hum coming from the TV and Donatello gets up to investigate.]

Donatello "That's weird. The wavelength pattern of this interference is highly unusual."

Leonardo "Donatello, do I sense you're having second thoughts about Michelangelo's note?"

Donatello "What, you mean that maybe it wasn't a gag? That there really might be an Electrozapper? Well, now that you bring it up."

Leonardo "That's what I was hoping you'd say. Let's go, turtles!"

[They race through the sewers on their Sewer Jetskis.]

Raphael "As Michelangelo would say, Cowabunga!"

[They soon exit the sewers and ski on open water.]

Leonardo "Look! There's a fire at the power plant!"

[Shift to Electrozapper, who is turning knobs on his machine.]

Electrozapper "It won't be long now."

Michelangelo "Man, like, I've gotta split this scene. Hyah!
[He tries kicking and punching the container, but to no effect.]

But first, I've gotta split this plastic.
[He notices a small crack near the bottom.]

Well, what do you know? I did it! I cracked this thing! Hi-ya!
[He kicks the crack and breaks through. Electrozapper turns and sees him leave the container. Michelangelo takes a bow.]

Ta-da!
"

Electrozapper "I'm not going to let some overgrown reject from a pet shop interfere with my plans."

[He tries to zap Michelangelo, who dodges.]

Michelangelo "Forget it, Electro-dude, you'll never hit me."

Electrozapper "Oh, no?"

[Michelangelo stands in front of Bugman’s container and taunts Electrozapper, who shoots at him. Michelangelo jumps aside and the electric beam hits the leestanite, knocking it away from Bugman’s container. Michelagnelo picks it up.]

Michelangelo "The leestanite! All right!"

[He throws it at Bugman’s electric production machine, which blows up when it’s hit.]

Bugman "Ahh!"

[Above ground, the fire has grown larger. April tries to crawl but stops and coughs.]

April "No use! I'll never make it.
[She hears the sound of motors.]

Someone's coming. Here! I'm over here!
[The turtles arrive.]

Donatello! Raphael!
"

Raphael "Boy, it's a little warm for this time of year, don't you think?"

April "I was beginning to get used to it."

Donatello "Hang on."

[Raphael puts her on Donatello’s shell and he bucks, sending April flying over the ring of fire.]

April "Hey, guys-- Whoa!
[Leonardo catches her.]

Oh! Am I glad they didn't leave you at home.
"

Leonardo "Where's Michelangelo?"

April "You mean he's not with you?"

[Below ground, Michelangelo is still facing off against Electrozapper.]

Michelangelo "You've got a great fastball, dude.
[He jumps around to avoid being zapped.]

How about a change-up once in a while?
"

Electrozapper "I'd rather try a three-cushion carom, you repugnant reptile!"

[He zaps the wall and it caroms of another wall before hitting Michelangelo’s carapace.]

Michelangelo "Ahh!"

Electrozapper "Chalk up one turtle for the Electrozapper."

[He stands over Michelangelo and prepares to zap him again.]

Bugman "Oh no, you don't."

Electrozapper "You!"

Bugman "That's right. I'm ba-a-ack.
[He tackles Electrozapper and shoves him into a wall.]

Graaa!
"

Electrozapper "Ack!"

Bugman "Come on, Michelangelo. Let's zap the Zapper once and for all."

Michelangelo "I'm with you, dude. Cowabunga!"

[Electrozapper enters his lift.]

Electrozapper "It's time to relocate. The bug problem is especially severe this season."

[On the surface, April shows the turtles the antennae.]

Raphael "You mean there really is an Electro-whozits?"

Electrozapper "See for yourself!"

Donatello "I don't believe it! He's the same villain we saw in Michelangelo's comic book!"

Raphael "Somehow, he seems a lot bigger in real life."

Electrozapper "Three more turtles? This place is a zoo!"

Bugman "You're about to have a short circuit, Zapper."

Electrozapper "Really? We'll see about that."

[He shoots electric bolts.]

Leonardo "Well, I'll be."

Donatello "Look!"

Raphael "Yes, Virginia. There is a Bugman."

[Electrozapper ducks below Bugman’s attack and runs, but Donatello jumps in front of him and twirls his staff overhead.]

Donatello "Donatello knows .
[Electrozapper hits the staff with a blast that disintegrates it.]

Agh!
"

Electrozapper "Now you know me!
[He shoots out several bolts of electricity, breaking through some power lines and sending the turtles hopping.]

That'll keep 'em busy while I make my getaway.
[He grabs April.]

For added protection... Stay back, or she gets it!
"

[Michelangelo throws his turtle line around Electrozapper’s ankles and trips him up. He drops April.]

April "Ah!"

[Bugman catches and flies off with her.]

April "This is the first time I've gone flying with a real fly."

Bugman "We should do it more often. You might get to like it."

[Electrozapper enters a boathouse and races out in a boat.]

Leonardo "He's getting away!"

Bugman "Excuse me, April. All this activity has made the termite in me a bit hungry."

[He sets April down on the pier next to the turtles and flies after Electrozapper. Bugman flies down and chews all the wood off the boat.]

Electrozapper "No, no! Not water!"

Bugman "What are you gonna do, melt?"

Electrozapper "No, worse!
[He hits the water and his electricity explodes, sending him spinning through the air.]

Agh!
"

[Police sirens approach as he hits the pier and rolls to a stop. Two officers grab him and haul him away.]

Bugman "Goodbye, O'Neil. Perhaps we'll meet again."

April "I'll leave a light on for you.
[April reports as Electrozapper is loaded into a police van.]

And so Electrozapper has been zapped into prison, and the superhero known as Bugman, who incidentally saved this reporter's life, flew over the distant horizon. Thank you, Bugman, wherever you are.
"

[The turtles have been watching the broadcast from the lair. Michelangelo turns off the TV set.]

Michelangelo "You know, dudes, I think April's gone a little buggy.
[His brothers start beating him with pillows.]

Ow! Hey! Come on! I was just kidding, guys. Ach! Stop! Whoa!
"
