Michael is a former member of the terrorist organization Humans Against The Extraterrestrials, appearing in the 2003 animated series episode H.A.T.E.. While his backstory is different, his role and name are similar to Michael Murphy from the comic the episode was adapted from, Survivalists.
History[]
Michael was a member of H.A.T.E., but felt that their intended detonation of a thermonuclear bomb in New York City was going too far. He made an effort to leave the group, but the members of H.A.T.E., especially their leader Skonk felt this was a betrayal, and that if someone was "in" their membership, they were for life. They chased Michael down and shot him in the shoulder, which is when he came across Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael, who were supposed to be picking apples in the woods, although Mike and Raph decided to use the apples for target practice.
Michael fell to the ground and barely was able to choke out an explanation of his situation before he lost consciousness. Raph and Mikey took to task to fending off the terrorists, while Don dressed his wounds. When Raph and Mike returned, Mikey took Michael by motorbike to a hospital, where he ensured that a pair of medics took him in.
