The Merpeople are a telepathic race of aquatic fish people that were once slaves of the Y'Lyntians. The first Merpeople were initially humans who had been mutated by the Crystal Sun to bring the Y'Lyntians the bounty of the sea.

After a revolt, they were free and spread across the seas. However, over the years, they began to die out due to human pollution, until only five remained (four males and one female). Hope remained for the species, for although the female died protecting the eggs she laid, those eggs hatched safely; this largely due to the timely intervention of four green-skinned heroes and two humans.

They appeared in the episodes "The Entity Below", and "Sons of the Silent Age".
