Plot[]
The Turtles meet in the greater sewers to go tubing together. Raphael is anxious because he is first to arrive and the others are late. Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo arrive later on and Leo says that Raph was left alone for five minutes.
They brought colored tubes, and Raphael took a tire off the Turtle Tank. Donatello advises his brothers to always take a left turn to stay on the lazy river. While doing their "Midnight Pass" play with Lace Face the football, Raphael and his brothers become separated when Raphael accidentally takes a right turn leaping for the ball.
Leonardo tells Michelangelo and Donatello that they need to find Raphael immediately, because he becomes savage when he is alone. Donatello reminds Leonardo that he is on vacation, but reluctantly agrees to look for Raphael.
Meanwhile, Raphael has lost Lace Face and and his tube Tire. He panics and causes some damage to the sewer. From above, the Sando brothers Ben and Carl see Raphael walking through the sewers along and decide to scare him out of his shell and eat him. They disguise themselves as sewer monsters and tell Raphael he will live forever in their bellies, alone. Raphael can't handle the idea of being alone forever, and turns into Savage Raph. Savage Raph attacks the Sando brothers and chases them through the sewer.
Meanwhile, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo are looking for Raphael. They find Raph's tire that was below. Leo Donnie asks Leo if he could jump first but Leo knew it was a bad idea. Mikey tells that they can't freak out. However, the bridge begisn to collapse and they fall into a pit of sludge. Then they found Raph alone. Savage Raph is barbecuing the Sando brothers on a ledge beside the pit. He mistakes his brothers for more sludge monsters and attacks. At Leonardo's suggestion, Michelangelo tricks Savage Raph into opening a flood gate, which washes the sludge (and the Sando Brothers) away. However, Savage Raph still believes his brothers are sewer monsters. Then Leonardo finds Lace Face. Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Donatello start the "Midnight Pass", play, and Savage Raph leaps to catch the ball, turning back into Raphael.
Raph asks if he got weird again, to which Mikey confirms that he did. The four of them decide to go home and try tubing again tomorrow. The last scene shows Donnie going to the garage, where he discovers that Raph has taken the Turtle Tank's three remaining tires. This enrages Donnie to the point that he furiously calls out Raph's name, ending the episode.
Quotes[]
- Leo: Did you get a tube?
- Donnie: Where did you get that?
- Raph: Uh… Borrowed it… …from Splinter?
- Donnie: Splinter… Who only owns robes and a shady past…
Trivia[]
- The title of the episode is a nod to Discovery Channel's Man vs. Wild.
- This episode, along with "The Mutant Menace", was leaked early online.
- In this episode, it is revealed that Raph goes savage when he is left alone for too long.
- This episode marks the final appearance of Ben Sando and of the Sando Brothers as a duo. Carl Sando's final appearance would be in "Battle Nexus: New York".
- Donnie's fourth-wall-breaking joke about Leo "sell[ing] the least action figures" is a nod to Leo traditionally being the least popular Turtle in the TMNT franchise, despite his position on the team.
- It was stated in February 2024 by Rise of the TMNT staff writer Ron Corcillo in a Tweet that, "I think we thought about bringing [Piebald] back in 'Man vs. Sewer' but it didn't work out, if I remember right."[1]
