A mace is a blunt weapon, a type of club that uses a heavy head on the end of a handle to deliver powerful strikes. A morning-star is a type of mace consisting of a shaft with an attached ball adorned with one or more spikes. A mace typically consists of a strong, heavy, wooden or metal shaft, often reinforced with metal, featuring a head made of any of a variety of items such as stone, bone, copper, bronze, iron, or steel.
Some type of a mace appears in nearly every version of the TMNT franchise. An Energy Mace is wielded by both Hun and Wrestler in the TMNT: Back to the Sewer season of the 2003 TV series.
A morning-star is the preferred weapon of Slash and wielded by Foot Soldiers in the 2012 TV series.
In the IDW series, some members of the Foot Patrol use maces. Karai tricks Hieronymus Hale into lifting a mace in anger, giving her blackmail material which makes him a member of the Foot Clan. Hale later kills a mutant with a mace and then forces Casey Jones to pick up a mace to defend himself.
