Leonardo carried one double bladed Katana instead of two. His sibling rivalry with Raphael drove many episodes. Leonardo still retains his position as the leader, and it has been important to the plot of many episodes of this short-lived and ill-received series. He is the one who reveals to Venus de Milo that the Turtles in this incarnation were not blood relatives.

Trivia

  • In promotional materials and the show's opening, Leonardo's headband was yellow. This may have been to further distance his color from Venus' cyan or to better work with the series' blue screen technology, but ultimately did not make it into the show properly.
  • In "East Meets West, Part 1", Splinter mentions that Raph and the rest of the turtles are almost 17, and by the time of "Enemy of my Enemy", Raph mentions that he and the rest of the turtles are 18.
