The Laughing Man is an antagonist of Batman's and leader of the Smile Clan. He is an amalgamation of the Shredder and the Joker, and his personality appears to be midway between their extremely different ones.
The Laughing Man and the Smile Clan targeted the Natural History museum, with the intent of stealing an extra-dimensional meteorite. He attacked Commissioner James Gordon, before being attacked by Batman. The Ninja Turtles defeated all of the Laughing Man's followers, but Batman was ultimately thwarted by his enemy, whom he briefly saw as the Joker. The Laughing Man ordered the ceiling of the museum blown up, and he escaped with the meteorite.
Later, he encountered Krang, who offered him the possibility of victory.
