Langenstein is a surname sometimes assigned to Irma. Its origins as a name for her are unknown, and as there is no known evidence of it being used in an official material before 2014, the majority of the fanbase considers its usage prior to then to be fanon.
Official usage[]
- The first official product to use the surname Langenstein was a trading card for the 2012 TV series, released in 2014.
- Four years later, the first confirmed usage of the name in an official canon was Irma Langenstein, a Channel 6 reporter introduced in IDW Publishing's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #83. When asked about this, Bobby Curnow states that she does not have a last name on Nickelodeon's usable character list, and the name likely was not in Tom Waltz' script, either, leaving it likely to have been added by Dave Wachter.[1]
- 2020's Totally Turtles!, a children's book which introduces readers to the world of the 1987 TV series, also uses the name.
- 2022: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge calls her Irma Langenstein after she is rescued.
- 2023: 'Swapping Pads, part 2 finally canonized this surname for the 1987 TV series version of Irma.
