[Opening sequence and theme song.]
[Pan across the city to piles of garbage scattered everywhere. City workers march on a picket line. April O’Neil reports for Channel 6.]
April O'Neil "And there seems to be no end in sight to the garbage strike that has crippled the city for almost three weeks."
Workers "More cash for trash. More cash for trash."
April "Now, reporting live from the Department of Sanitation, here is Channel 6's Vernon Fenwick with the latest reaction."
[Cut to the Department of Sanitation building. Vernon Fenwick stands outside the doors where overflowing garbage cans are stacked up next to the steps. Flies buzz all around.]
Vernon Fenwick "The city is in severe danger of being buried under a mountain of malodorous mold-ridden muck. It's disgusting, revolting. I think I'm going to be sick."
[He tries holding his nose and then takes out a rolled up paper. While trying to swat flies, he overbalances and falls on a garbage bag, splitting it open. Splinter and the Turtles are watching the news in the lair.]
Michelangelo "Well, it looks like Vernon finally found himself a nice, soft gig."
Splinter "This is not a joking matter, Michelangelo. A plague of flies is a serious omen. I fear something is in the air."
Raphael "Right, the smell of all that garbage."
Donatello "It's stinking up the city so badly that our sewer is starting to smell like a. . . well, like a sewer."
Splinter "I suspect the source of that pungent aroma is far closer than you think.
Perhaps if you would get rid of your uneaten portions of pizza."
[He indicates a stack of pizza boxes against one wall.]
Perhaps if you would get rid of your uneaten portions of pizza."
[Michelangelo walks over to the wall phone.]
Michelangelo "Hey, that gives me an idea! Who wants extra pepperoni on his pizza?"
[He taps in a phone number. The call goes to Vinnie’s Pizza Parlor.]
Vinnie "All right, uh-huh, got it. And remember our slogan, if we don't deliver your pizza in 30 minutes, tough tetrazzini!"
[The Transport Module drills up through the ground next to the pizza parlor. Bebop and Rocksteady exit and run to the front of the GJB Electronics Warehouse. Rocksteady leaps and grabs onto a second floor windowsill. Bebop catches his feet and pushes.]
Bebop "Ain't you ever heard of going on a diet?"
Rocksteady "Oh, quit griping and give me a boost!"
[They both fall back onto the ground next to garbage cans.]
Bebop "Ouch! Hey, I got an idea. We'll use these cans to get up to that window.
Eh, millions of flies."
[He picks up a can and opens the lid, releasing a swarm of flies.]
Eh, millions of flies."
[Rocksteady goes towards another can, but the lid starts wiggling and then pops up to release even more flies. They swarm Rocksteady and he exclaims in surprise. The flies pick him up and fling him on top of Bebop. The pair jump up and run.]
Bebop "Hey, what's going on?"
Rocksteady "These flies act like they got brains or something."
Baxter Stockman "Which is more than I can say for you moronic mutants! And they do have a brain... mine."
Bebop "It's Baxter Stockman."
Stockman "Better known as the Landlord of the Flies."
