Lady Shredder is the name eventually appropriated by a previously unnamed conglomerate of nanotechnology which had had a significant tenure in Image continuity.
History[]
A trio of cyborgs made up of men and nanotech, accompanied Pimiko to her assault on the Turtle Lair. After absconding with Splinter and a gravely injured Donatello, the two surviving cyborgs and Pimiko fled in a helicopter. Donatello came to and attacked the cyborg watching over him, Jackson. The two of them tumbled out of the helicopter, plummeting to the city street below. With Jackson now dead and Don just barely clinging to life, Jackson's nanotech moved from his body to Don's, saving the turtle's life and "upgrading" him with the nanotech's weaponry. TMNT #1, TMNT #2
Over time, the nanotech's AI would struggle with Don for control of his body. Eventually, Don would "die" and be sent to the Astral Plane, leaving the AI on its own in the body.
Lurch, a "morphling" associate of Vanguard's, merged with the nanotech and flew off with it, leaving Don comatose until his soul could be returned to his body. TMNT #14 The nanotech would return as its own identity at last, a Shredder with a feminine appearance, after having taken control of the body of Karai's comatose daughter, Amai. Lurch had masqueraded as Amai in her hospice bed as well, removing suspicion that Lady Shredder could be Amai under the armor.
