"A Grandmaster's respect must be earned."

Sub-Zero is a guest character from Mortal Kombat, who appears as a downloadable character in Injustice 2.

Biography[]

Formerly under the code name of "Tundra", the second Sub-Zero is an assassin of the the order of Lin Kuei, the Chinese predecessor of the concept of ninja. Unlike his elder brother Bi-Han, the previous Sub-Zero and now a special shadow revenant assassin Noob Saibot, Kuai Liang is honorable and after taking over the Lin Kuei, runs the clan as as close to a heroic organization as assassins can be, after the fall of original Lin Kuei Grandmaster and the Cyber Initiative program led by Sektor.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Assassination: As a member of a Chinese clan in which the ninja was spun off of, he is adept in the techniques of assassination, to the same level or greater of the best ninja.
  • Cyrokinesis: Sub-Zero is a descendant of a cryomancer species from Outworld, allowing him to harness the power of creating freezing cold blasts of ice.
    • Ice constructs: Sub-Zero has little use for conventional weapons, and instead creates his own out of solid ice.
  • Leadership: Oft times, Sub-Zero rises to the title of Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei.
    • Charisma: Outside of his delinquent student Frost, most are willing to follow him. He also served as a public relations specialist for the Lin Kuei, wearing a proper suit and handing out business cards at one point.
  • Incredible strength: Although this fortitude is not to the degree of some of his contemporaries, Sub-Zero is capable of tearing a foe's head and spinal column from his or her body, or even tug their complete skeleton away form their skin.

Trivia[]

  • This character is based on the new timeline since the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot game, with the timeline for his appearance in Injustice 2 takes between Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 storylines, despite having most of the Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe references appeared.
    • However, Raiden's inclusion in the second Injustice game as Sub-Zero confirms to be taken place in alternative ending of Mortal Kombat X, uniquely created for this second game, where Raiden did not succumb to Jinsei's corruption which turned him into Dark Raiden.
  • His Injustice 2 primary costume was designed by Jim Lee.
