Synopsis[]
A man utilizes a payphone, telling the person on the other end of the urgent, important news he needs to share. The booth is suddenly riddled with bullets and he is killed. Baxter, the assailant, approaches and picks up the phone book, looking up someone and declaring that he has finally found them after all these years.
At the Jones apartment, Raphael and Michelangelo play video games while April prepares to go out shopping, asking everyone for their grocery lists. Before she leaves, she tells Casey he should put Shadow down for a nap in about an hour.
April gets in her car and doesn't make it far before Baxter's robotic hand pops out of a manhole and overturns the car. He breaks through the street and pulls her out of the car, then stabs her in the shoulder with a spike portruding from his finger and promptly leaves.
Casey hears sirens heading down the street and looks out the window to see what the commotion is. He sees April's car and rushes out. Leo asks what's going on, with Mike telling him something out the window spooked Casey. Leo looks and sees the scene that terrified Casey.
Medics and cops have arrived by the time Casey runs down the street. Leo volunteers to watch Shadow while Mike and Raph go to check out what's going on. They head through the sewer to the area where Casey and April are, noticing the collapse in the sewer where Baxter had broken through.
April gives her statement to an officer, but he has trouble believing her, angering Casey. Another officer comes and says that the eyewitnesses corroborated her statement. Two DARPA agents, Friskas and Lowell, approach the officer in charge and tell him they're taking over questioning. They ask April the same questioning, but Casey tells them to buzz off as they're just bothering April and angering him further. Friskas and Lowell return to their car and discuss having them monitored 24/7 to find out why Baxter was after April.
Mike and Raph take off down the tunnels as one of the officers, Ashfield, prepares to descend into the hole to investigate it. They discuss what this attacking robot could have been, and come across a cave-in in their path, wondering what's on the other side - which as the reader is shown, is Baxter.
