Detective Kara Lewis is a recurring member of the New York Police Department in the IDW continuity. She first became involved in the tangled web of the Turtles' lives when she was an undercover officer pretending to be a jewel thief at a New Year's Eve party that Michelangelo attended during his micro-series issue.
She was the officer who arrested Arnold Jones during the Vengeance arc, but her prisoner was freed by Old Hob. She remained in contact with Casey Jones during the subsequent manhunt for his father.
She later became the NYPD liaison to the Earth Protection Force when they laid siege to Techno Cosmic Research Institute Laboratory 7 in Queens, but she soon made it clear that she did not share Agent Bishop's hatred of mutants. She was briefly imprisoned by the agency in order to keep her from interfering in their actions.
During Monster Hunt, she was in charge of coordinating refugees fleeing the Triceraton invasion in the Midtown Evacuation Center, a formerly abandoned building. After the Turtles caused a minor uproar with a smoke bomb and a stolen police radio, Lewis recognized them from a police sketch. She ordered the sketch destroyed.
