Summary[]
In the lair, deep beneath New York City, the Turtles are enjoying pizza as Splinter meditates nearby. Michaelangelo calls everyone’s attention to the television, where reporter Craig Harris reports on happenings in Australia. Locals in the Outback are living in terror following a series of giant kangaroo attacks on humans. Harris turns to one of the victims, Mister Croc Magee, who says that the army of kangaroos were led by a cobber in a metal mask and a talking brain with no body. Before he can continue, Harris pulls the microphone away and tells viewers that the man is clearly suffering from too much sun.
The Turtles realize that Shredder and his geeks are in Australia and that whatever they’re up to must be criminal. Splinter agrees and states that an immediate departure for Australia is strongly advised. He cautions them to take care and avoid being too overconfident. A long and tiring flight in the Turtle Blimp takes them to Australia. They note how big the Aussie Outback is and that there’s no civilization for miles – not even a pizza takeaway.
They suddenly spot a petrol station out in the middle of nowhere and decide to land to check it out. Wearing disguises, they hop out of the blimp and Pete of Pete's Gas Stop comes over to greet them. He asks if they want some gas for their balloon, and Leonardo says no, what they really need is information. Each Turtle asks a question: are there any bad-tempered kangaroos in these parts, or a man in a metal mask, or walking, talking animals or a brain with no body. Pete says no, what they want is Wallaby Springs which is five hundred miles to the west.
While the other Turtles are thanking him for the information, Michaelangelo walks over to the station building and looks around the side, finding something of interest. He says nothing until they are airborne again and Leo says he feels like Pete is sending them on a wild goose chase. Then Mikey says he followed some tracks he found behind the station, tracks almost certainly made by the Technodrome. Donatello says that Pete’s information about Wallaby Springs is a red herring. Waiting until they are out of sight of the gas station, Don makes a u-turn and heads east.
An hour later, the Turtles come upon a small town called Kanga's Leap. A sign gives the population as zero, though it once was home to several hundred people. Landing the blimp, the Turtles take a look around the town and Leo says to stay alert because they may have found the geeks’ hide-out. In the next moment they are surrounded by giant kangaroos. Leo tells the others not to make any sudden moves, but Mikey says maybe their friendly. He goes to offer a slice of pizza, but using its tail, one of the kangaroos knocks the pizza from his hand.
The Turtles then see a pickup truck approaching and realize it’s Pete, the gas station owner. Pete jumps out of his truck and calls them fools for not following his directions. Leo replies that they didn’t trust him and they don’t think his name is Pete. Shredder abruptly appears, holding a remote controller, and says that Pete is a robot. The Turtles remove their disguises and arm themselves. Shredder tells them that coming there is a mistake they won’t live to regret and then orders the Killer 'roos to destroy them.
Leo orders the use of minimum force because they don’t want to hurt the kangaroos. Unfortunately, the Turtles learn that the kangaroos will gladly hurt them. One of the kangaroos slaps a katana out of Leo’s hand, to his dismay. The sword spins through the air and then finds a target in the chest of another kangaroo – revealing that it’s actually a robot! Happy that they no longer have to take it easy, the Turtles begin a full on attack and quickly destroy the killer ‘roos.
With the kangaroos out of the way, the Turtles turn their attention to Shredder, who is running towards a rundown hotel. Shredder calls out for them to follow him if they dare and Leo warns that it could be a trap. The Turtles pause before entering the hotel and notice a strange noise that sounds like heavy machinery at work. Calling for Raphael to bust in with him, Leo tells Mikey and Don to cover them. Together, Leo and Raph break down the doors and enter the hotel. They are immediately confronted by Bebop and Rocksteady, who are aiming laser rifles on them. Krang orders the Turtles to drop their weapons or die.
Raphael sees that they have come upon a secret drilling site, with a large drilling rig set up in the center of the building. Krang informs them that the town sits on an underground oil lake. He will sell the oil, gain unlimited wealth and then buy new weapons and technology in order to dominate the world. Raph whispers that they have to be stopped and Leo says he’ll stall them so that the others have time to move in. Leo asks if the kangabots were Krang’s invention and the bodiless brain answers in the affirmative. To avenge their destruction, Krang tells his mutants to shoot the Turtles.
Just in the nick of time, the Turtle Glider bursts through the roof of the building and then out again by smashing a hole in the back wall. Bebop and Rocksteady are buried under falling debris and Krang and Shredder try to escape. Raph throws his sai into a fire extinguisher, which sprays the two villains, knocking them down. Suddenly, there is a rumbling sound followed by the ground shaking. Oil begins shooting up from the oil rig and both Shredder and Krang dance in the spray of the oil, thrilled that they are rich. As abruptly as it began, the oil stops gushing and an amused Leo says they found an oil pond, not a lake. Krang begins crying and Leo tells them to clear off to the Technodrome. The villains leave and the Turtles get back into their Turtle Blimp to head home, but not before first doing some sightseeing and grabbing some pizza.
