Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids. |
Kamaitachi (鎌鼬 - sickle weasel) is a yōkai of Japanese folklore. They are depicted as weasels riding in particularly strong wind, and either have long, sharp claws, or sickle-like blades on their forelegs. The legend was thought to have been born to explain the damage caused by high winds.

Legends[]
In a story that Splinter reads the young Turtles, a group of kamaitachi ride in on a turbulent wind and begin causing havoc in the forest. The kappa turtles in the story are sheltered by their shells, but they notice that the other animals have no defense against the weasels. Thus, they go out of their way to put themselves in danger to protect the other forest animals. With their attacks rebuffed, the kamaitachi ride the winds away from the forest to turn their attention elsewhere.
