Kala is a member of the Neutrino Resistance against Krang, serving under Commander Dask. She was part of the team sent to Earth to bring back the Fugitoid, but their rescue was interrupted by the Turtles, who mistook them for enemies.
Though initially in conflict with the Turtles, she - along with the rest of her team - soon became allies with them when they were pinned down by Krang's forces. When Krang demanded the Fugitoid in exchange for the lives of King Zenter and Queen Gizzla, Kala was visibly angered by his actions.
She accompanied Commander Dask, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Princess Tribble on a covert raid to infiltrate Krang's headquarters. With Leonardo and Michelangelo engaging Krang and his soldiers, she and Dask were able to free the king and queen, and attempted to guard them from further harm.
When Krang's trial was approaching, Zak and Kala were sent to Earth in order to summon mutant alligator Leatherhead as a witness, a dangerous assignment that left them both battered. When it became necessary to fetch other witnesses to Neutrino, Zak and Kala piloted the spacecraft that took the Turtles to their various destinations.
This proved to be a dangerous assignment, as they ran afoul of the Malignoid swarm. During the trial, the Malignoids attacked Neutrino, and Kala participated in the battle.

- Unlike in the 1987 TV series, she is not romantically interested in Michelangelo.
