Kak'fa the Cockroach King lives far below New York City and rules over all of its cockroaches. He calls them his children and is able to command them through telepathic thought.

History[]

Heaven's In Here[]

Two aliens named Brik and Brak arrive on Earth in a spaceship disguised as a meteorite. They pilot their spaceship into the Hudson River and proceed underneath the city, where they leave the ship in order to go in search of Kak'fa the Cockroach King. The pair are followed by the Turtles, who spy on their meeting with Kak'fa. Brik and Brak's mission is to gain Kak'fa's assistance in destroying humankind and then robbing the world of its resources. Kak'fa wants to know why he should help them, since the Earth is already nearly his. The aliens further entice him by saying they will take him to other worlds.

Michaelangelo is bitten by a cockroach he stepped on and falls from his hiding place. Kak'fa and the aliens think he's in league with humans. Brik and Brak go to attack him and the other Turtles enter the fray. Kak'fa doesn't involve himself in the fight, instead watching as Brik and Brak defeat Michaelangelo as well as Leonardo and Raphael. Donatello beats a strategic retreat, hoping to think of a way to save his brothers. The aliens and Kak'fa don't bother chasing him. Brik and Brak inform Kak'fa that there are many more of their kind prepared to aid in Earth's takeover. Kak'fa decides to help them and uses his telepathy to call his children to him.

The cockroaches arrive by the thousands and crawl over Michaelangelo, who has been pretending to be unconscious. He starts laughing because they are tickling him and when Brik and Brak go to attack, he hits them with his nunchaku. Before Kak'fa can become involved, the wall crashes inwards, having been plowed into by the spaceship which Donatello has taken control of. He jumps out to help Michaelangelo in his fight. During the battle, Brik calls to Kak'fa to help them, but Michaelangelo yells for Kak'fa to come to their aid in order to save the world since it's the only one they've got.

Kak'fa makes his choice when he sees Donatello place himself in danger and take a blow meant for a small cockroach perched on his shoulder. Donatello calls the cockroach his little buddy. Kak'fa orders the cockroaches to attack Brik and Brak. After they defeat the aliens and send them packing, Kak'fa has the cockroaches eat the goop that is trapping Leo and Raph in cocoons. The Turtles and Kak'fa thank each other and the Turtles head for home.

Notes and trivia[]

  • Kak'fa's name is a reference to Bohemian novelist Franz Kafka, whose 1915 story The Metamorphosis (Die Verwandlung) saw its protagonist Gregor Samsa inexplicably transformed into a giant insect, which is depicted as a cockroach in popular culture.
