In the IDW continuity, TMNT #101 floridly revealed that Leonardo is a kadō practitioner, and during his time at the O'Neil Farm in the months following his father Splinter's death, he set up a greenhouse to practice his art. In TMNT #104, Leo suggested teaching kadō along with calligraphy and martial arts at the new Splinter Dōjō the Turtles planned to set up in Mutant Town. The dōjō opened in TMNT #105, and kadō was one of the classes Leo taught to new students of the Splinter Clan.
