Professor and friends
A junkyard, also known as a salvage yard, wrecking yard or a breaker’s yard, is a place where old, damaged, or abandoned vehicles are collected. Once a junkyard buys a vehicle, they dismantle it to remove the salvageable parts which are then resold. Sometimes the junkyard allows customers to come into the yard and remove the parts themselves.
A scrapyard is slightly different in that it is a place where scrap metal and other materials are collected and processed for recycling or reuse. They accept vehicles in any condition because they buy them to crush them. Scrapyards may also accept non-metallic materials, electronics, and/or a wide variety of other materials.
Both junkyards and scrapyards are featured throughout the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. The Turtles, especially Donatello, rely heavily on junkyards as a source of materials because, of course, they can’t walk into a store and purchase what they need.
