Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids. |
Jo is a human-born mutant orca appearing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #109 by IDW Publishing. She eventually became a member of Jennika's band Created in Darkness.
History[]
Jo and her fellow homeless mutants were originally humans who were mutated by Old Hob's mutagen bomb along with most of the other mutants confined to Mutant Town. These mutants were squatting inside the ruins of an abandoned school, and encountered Mona Lisa and Donatello as the latter two were assessing the possibility of refurbishing the school so that Mona could start teaching mutant children, as Mutant Town no longer had a functioning traditional school up to this point. Jo and her companions were initially hostile at the trespassers, but Donnie calmed the situation by promising that he could restore the rest of the building's electricity and give the squatters internet access, which could give Jo and her companions the chance of contacting their families outside the wall. Jo finally agreed that a school would be a good idea, and Donnie connected them to the internet. Later in the same issue, Jo and her companions were among many who listened to the first broadcast of Michelangelo's pirate radio station.
Some of the human-born mutants, transformed by the mutagen bomb, had a hard time adjusting to their new situation. Jo was one of them, but during a therapy-type session, she talks about how she was lost and scared until Mona Lisa and Donatello fixed up the school for the kids. It gave Jo the opportunity to better herself and she became a music teacher. That helps the kids as well, because they don’t focus on the negatives. Though she misses being human, Jo wouldn’t give up what she has in Mutant Town. She is later seen in the crowd enjoying a concert given by After the Bomb. Your Back Is Got
