Jay G. Paulson is the antagonist of the Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures Special story, The Ghost of 13 Mile Island!
History[]
Jay G. Paulson is the nephew of the owner of Paulson Petroleum. Allegedly of his own accord unbeknownst to the company or his uncle, he secured a job as the laboratory assistant of Peter Proton, a scientist who was working on experiments, hoping to discover the solution to limitless energy. Paulson hoped to sabotage the experiments so that they posed no threat to his uncle's company.
Using the rather flimsy alias of J.G. Paul, he worked alongside Professor Proton, until one night, he saw his chance. Turning the Professor's force cannon on him, he zapped him in an effort to kill him. Fortunately for Proton, he does not seem to actually have been killed, but instead was shunted to a parallel dimension which is slightly out-of-sync with the "real" one.
Paulson pretended to continue Proton's work, but spent his time burning his notes. Proton had been able to start making efforts to materialize in a ghost-like state into this dimension. This spooked a guard, which led WTRL to host an investigative report. Vance Block, owner of the 13 Mile Island Scientific Research Facility, was irritated by all of the rumors of ghosts and just wanted his facility to operate in peace. He invited April to investigate as much as she wanted in order to clear the facility's name.
As her camerawoman Linda could not make it to another trip that night, April brought the Turtles to help her. Paulson, introducing himself as J.G. Paul, gave April and the Turtles a brief tour, then excused himself to go continue his "work". His casual referencing of Proton in the past tense, however, aroused the Turtles' suspicion.
After a run-in with Proton's "ghost" as he continued to attempt to faze into this reality, the Turtles and April followed him into the lab Proton was renting, only to find Paulson sifting through Proton's personal files and burning them. Finally forming into reality in his own visage and able to competently communicate, Proton tells April and the Turtles how Paulson tried to kill him. In desperation, Paulson turns the force cannon on April and the Turtles, but Proton blocks the shot. The Turtles beat up Paulson, Leo cuts off his clothes, and then they throw him into Proton's safe until the police can come to arrest him, which they later do.
