Jackal is an anthropomorphic jackal who appears in the Mirage comic Egyptian Adventure as one of two main antagonists, serving as the guardian of the other main antagonist, Aunkamen.
History[]
During an excavation by development company Tech II of an Egyptian site, the company broke ground over the crypt of greedy would-be pharaoh Aunkamen. Aunkamen cursed the world with his return upon discovery of his resting place. Molly Rodriguez, an archeologist hired by Tech II to survey the site, had invited her friend April O'Neil to cover any discoveries made during their work. After being shown a crest found by one of the locals assisting on the dig, Molly and April ventured to the dig site and were confronted by Jackal. When they tried to flee, Jackal waved his magic staff, Karnak, and bestowed life on statues of an anthropomorphic ram and an ibis, Ramses and Thoth, respectively. Ramses and Thoth captured the women and were forced to be dressed more "suitably" as brides for Aunkamen. The Jackal explains that he is here to usher in Aunkamen's reign and build a new temple to honor his liege... he also tells Molly and April that his master will have them as his queens!
Luckily for the ladies, April had faxed the crest to the Turtles, who researched it and found its origin. Rightfully believing them to be in trouble, the Turtles shipped themselves to Egypt and tracked down the dig site. Fighting off mummies and living statues conjured to life by Jackal and his Karnak, the Turtles finally make their way to Jackal, April, and Molly. They tussel with Jackal and eventually, Leonardo breaks Karnak, which renders Jackal and all of the beings he enchanted with it innert.
Trivia[]
Jackal's appearance obviously cribs from the Egyptian wolf-headed god, Anubis, who was once presumed to be based on a jackal and continues to be so in most popular depictions.
