In the IDW comics, interdimensional portals represent the only connectivity between Earth and Dimension X. Access to the teleporter technology necessary to create these portals has been gained by Krang, who built a permanent interdimensional teleportation unit on his base on Burnow Island, and also the Neutrinos though the technical assistance of Professor Zayton Honeycutt. The schematics Honeycutt provided Donatello for an interspatial teleporter were not specifically designed to create interdimensional portals, but proved capable of producing them in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters. The construction of a second interspatial teleporter in the basement of the Ghostbusters' Firehouse from the same blueprints, enabling the Turtles to return to their own Earth, gave interdimensional portal capability to the Ghostbusters as well.
