Il Giornalino is the longest running children's magazine in Europe. It was founded by the Catholic publisher Edizioni San Paolo of Alba in 1924. During its history, the magazine has published the Italian translation of numerous American and European comics series, as well as their own original characters.
Beginning in 1994, Il Giornalino began publishing Le Tartarughe Ninja, comics based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . Turtles comics did not appear in every issue of the magazine, but the characters and stories can be found all the way through 2008.
