Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids.

Human Bebop and Human Rocksteady are supporting recurring characters in the comics miniseries TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything by IDW Publishing. Using the Time Scepter stolen from Renet, the future mutant versions of Bebop and Rocksteady travel back in time to the year 2000 to recruit the younger versions of themselves with the hopes of mutating their human selves into a rhinoceros and a warthog much earlier in life. The four of them share violent globetrotting misadventures through multiple time periods in an attempt to improve their lots in life, managing to mangle the timeline itself in the process. But as they travel, their younger and older selves provide each other with an unexpected new perspective that helps them reshape their priorities and goals in life.

In issue #3, having failed to achieve any of their goals, human and mutant Bebop part ways with human and mutant Rocksteady. But by issue #4, the Rocksteadys have come to regret this, realizing how much they cared about Bebop all along. In Verdun, France in the year 1916, The Rocksteadys are caught up in a World War I battle, taking refuge in a German trench. A mortar explosion blows them aside; mutant Rocksteady easily survives this, but human Rocksteady is mortally wounded, tearfully wishing he could have made different choices in life to put Bebop first. Mutant Rocksteady decides he can still do this, and sets off to find Bebop.
