When Splinter, the Ninja Turtles and April O'Neil visit Hiroshima in Japan, Splinter tells them his mother drove him away from Hiroshima, north and deep into the Countryside of Japan to avoid the radioactive fallout from the August 1945 Hiroshima atomic bombing.
