"H.A.V.O.C. in the Streets!" is the fifth episode of the eighth season of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series.

Summary

The H.A.V.O.C. mutants Mystic and Seizure break into an aerospace plant, only to find the Ninja Turtles lying in wait. Now that they're fully aware of H.A.V.O.C., they been trailing them for days. Raptor breaks in as the fight starts, and Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael are all struggling. Michelangelo, who has been unusually spacey lately, starts messing around with a jet engine, causing enough mayhem that the H.A.V.O.C mutants are able to escape.

At the H.A.V.O.C. HQ, the mutants report the failure of their mission, and Titanus reveals that he is trying to locate a device called a Flux Transformer, which is stored in a heavily guarded military base. The only way to seize it is to built a Sky Platform, but he won't be able to do that if the Turtles keep interfering. He decides to take advantage of the Turtles' weakness for humans, breaking free a criminal they once apprehended and turning him into an energy-based mutant bent on revenge, Synapse.

The other three Turtles berate Michelangelo for messing around instead of taking their missions seriously. While Donatello is researching the aerospace plant, Synapse appears on his computer and begins destroying things with blasts of energy. When he leaves the lair, the Turtles immediately rush to the surface and find him destroying buildings with a wrecking ball. Donatello explains that he is made of pure energy, and it allows him to control anything mechanical.

Unfortunately destroying the machines he's controlling does no harm to Synapse. He simply switches to a truck, which Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael all ride through the city, but Michelangelo is too distracted by a comic book to join them. They conclude that until he starts taking the mission seriously, he's more a hindrance than a help.

Synapse arrives at a phone company and uses its lines to infiltrate Channel 6 and start causing mayhem. The Turtles arrive and (much to Burne's outrage) destroy the equipment Synapse is possessing before being dragged away by the news helicopter.

Michelangelo, having no idea where his brothers are, decides to double back to the aerospace plant and finds the H.A.V.O.C. mutants creating the Sky Platform. He's immediately caught by Amok and Seizure, but manages to break free and steal a jet.

The Turtles meanwhile get stuck in a recycling plant, and are nearly killed by a circular saw, compactor and grinder. Leonardo manages to free them, and in the commotion they discover that the energy blasted at his reflective swords can be reflected back at Synapse, injuring him. Raphael and Leonardo continue injuring the energy mutant while Donatello gets to a nearby ham radio station, and uses the transmitter at a high frequency to "broadcast" Synapse into outer space, where he will "ride the radio waves forever."

A newly focused Michelangelo appears with his (fortunately four-seater) jet, and flies them to the Sky Platform. While the military opens fire on the Platform, the Turtles provoke the enemy mutants into destroying their own engines, and manage to steer the crashing vehicle into a nearby cliff before bailing out into the river.

Michelangelo apologizes for goofing off in the past, while the other Turtles discover the existence of the Flux Transformer. Donatello confirms that it can warp time and space, and Leonardo states that they will have to stop him.

In order to retrieve it, they must build a [[Sky Platform]]. Titanus is unable to built because the turtles stand in the way, he finds out that humans are their weakness, despite their difference, the turtles are willing to project humanity. What they must do is to distract the Turtles long enough for the mutants to get all the parts needed to build it. While the return to their lair, they berate Michelangelo for allowing the mutants get away and told him to take the missions more seriously. The questions is what were H.A.V.O.C.'s mutants doing at the aerospace plant, [[Donatello (1987 TV series)|Donatello]] will look it up on his computer. At H.A.V.O.C. mutation room, Titanus is speaking with a convict who got arrested because of the turtles. Titanus offer him the power to pay them back, he gladly accepts. He lays down on the table while Titanus set the controls and turn the convict into a glowing mutant dubbed [[Synapse]], a creature of pure energy. He orders him to find the turtles and keep them at bay, Synapse dives into a console to proceed with the task. Back at the lair, Donatello is unable to find anything special in the plant, except it's fully automated. At that moment, Synapse arrived in the monitor, he jumps out presenting himself and attacks. The other three turtles heard the noise in when Synapse came out and taunts the turtles to catch him. The Turtles reach the surface witness Synapse enters a crane equated with a wrecking ball.

The truck crashes into a phone company and Synapse exits the truck and into a phone line. The main station in the company leads every line in city, Synapse could go anywhere. Titanus observes the plant through monitor, it won't be long until the Sky Platform is complete. Synapse returns to base, where Titnaus gives him his next objective, attack the Turtles friends at [[Channel 6 (1987 TV series)|Channel 6]]. The Turtles exit the phone company and got a call from Michelangelo, but due ongoing goofing off, the others will continue on without, leaving Michelangelo on his own. Now the Turtles are figuring out where Synapse have gone, he been daring them to catch him, like he luring them from somewhere. At that moment [[April O'Neil (1987 TV series)|April]] called and said that a glowing creature is attacking the station, knowing its Synapse, the Turtles is on their way. Synapse continues to wreck the station, going into any machine he gets to. The Turtles arrived when Synapse took control of the station's camera. As they damage it [[Burne Thompson (1987 TV series)|Burme]] protest that camera is expensive. Synapse escapes through a wire that heads to the roof, the Turtles give a chase as Burne Complains that the Turtles will ruin him. Synapse takes control of a helicopter, while the Turtles ride the rails. Meanwhile, Michelangelo investigate the plant and sees Highbeam is building a aircraft, but gets caught by Amok and Seizure. Synapse takes the Turtles to an old station and place them in machines to their end. Raphael is in a compactor, Leonardo on a table with a circular blade, and Donatello going to be place in a grinder.
