The Grand Nexus Hotel is a recurring location in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Description[]
The Grand Nexus Hotel is a hotel located in New York City owned and managed by Big Mama. It employs and serves humans, but also contains significant concealed facilities just for Yōkai guests served exclusively by Yōkai personnel.
The Grand Nexus Hotel has numerous secret passageways inside the building as shown in "Bug Busters" and "The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek" at least in its Yōkai section. There is a portal leading to the Battle Nexus stationed within the Grand Nexus Hotel called the Battle Nexus gateway. Big Mama's office vault password is "111111".
History[]
Nothing is known about the Grand Nexus Hotel's history, but it has been around at least as long as Big Mama's known Lou Jitsu as he is familiar with its personnel and interior layout.
The Grand Nexus Hotel debuted in "Bug Busters". The Turtles arrived at the hotel while hunting Oozesquitoes. They failed to catch any insects, but managed to damage the main lobby in the process. Big Mama, having watched the entire incident on her security monitors, arrived to formally introduce herself to the Turtles. They were surprised to learn that most of the employees were actually Yōkai using cloaking brooches to appear human. Big Mama gave them a tour of her hotel, leading them through the sporting lounge to her hotel office. She offered to work with the Turtles to catch the Oozequitoes with Donatello's Bug Slapper and her silk. After capturing many Oozesquitoes, the Turtles returned to the Grand Nexus Hotel where they were escorted by owl bellhop, among others, back to Big Mama. She stole the Bug Slapper and the Oozesquitoes and ordered Gus to track down Leonardo after he separated himself from the group. She had her bellhops take the Turtles to the Battle Nexus as its new rodeo clowns, but they were soon rescued by Leo. The Turtles returned to Big Mama's office via an elevator and stole the Bug Slapper and captured Oozesquitoes from her vault before she restrained them with her silk. Draxum and his servants Huginn and Muninn broke into Big Mama's office to take back Draxum's Oozesquitoes.
The Grand Nexus Hotel reappeared in "Bullhop". Big Mama held her box social inside the Grand Nexus Hotel, hiring DIGG as music performers. Bullhop snuck into the hotel disguised as one of its staff members and soon after was invited to dance with Big Mama. The Turtles accidentally fell into the Grand Nexus Hotel after secretly surveying what was taking place inside from a rooftop window, causing the guests to flee. A fight between Big Mama and her staff against Bullhop and the Turtles followed as the Turtles tried to collect Big Mama's silk to address the lingering Oozesquito infestation. However, they only managed to secure one pitcher full of her silk before they fled with Bullhop.
Splinter sent the Turtles on a heist mission in "The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek" to infiltrate the Grand Nexus Hotel in a last-ditch effort to encourage them to learn and apply ninjutsu techniques. They were to steal Gus' nametag from his collar, but after three days of the Turtles remaining in the hotel, Splinter snuck into it himself to assist them. He disguised himself as a Grand Nexus Hotel bellhop and encountered Mikey and Donnie in an elevator hiding beneath a cloth-covered food cart. Splinter afterward found Raph in a different room with a fountain that Gus drank from, hiding him behind a picture of Big Mama. He then rode the elevator to locate Leo in the hotel sporting lounge where Leo was found by Gus and the bellhops. The Turtles tried to hide in Gus' room, but were followed, however, as Splinter observed from an air vent, the Turtles managed to obtain Gus' nametag. Splinter and the Turtles then escaped the hotel, but Splinter returned to it after being given the nametag, sneaking into an important hotel room and using the nametag to open a drawer in a storage unit to look at a photograph of him and Big Mama.
In "One Man's Junk", Mikey and Donnie verbally advertised their interest in being sold "mystic metal" in the Grand Nexus Hotel sporting lounge.
The Foot Clan drove to the Grand Nexus Hotel in "Insane in the Mama Train" with the packaged Kuroi Yōroi to make their way to Big Mama's train station for transport to the Shredder's shrine.
Leo teleported Splinter and himself to the Grand Nexus Hotel to recruit Big Mama's help in defeating the Shredder in "Many Unhappy Returns". They were intercepted by fox bellhop who conveyed Leo and Splinter's messages to Big Mama over a handheld transceiver. It was only when Splinter implied that he was Lou Jitsu that Big Mama agreed to see the two of them and they were teleported to her Battle Nexus luxury box.
Big Mama announced the events of her Battle Nexus Wizbang from her Grand Nexus Hotel office, including telling the Turtles the rules of the event, in "Battle Nexus: New York". After the Battle Nexus matches concluded, the contestants were to go to her hotel and await for Big Mama. She left her office and met the winning teams in front of her hotel, promising to release the New York City civilians from the Mystic Orb. However, Big Mama reneged her end of the deal and after stating she wished to turn New York City into a Battle Nexus arena, she was attacked by Raph.
