The episode begins with Huginn and Muninn offering themselves to a figure for services. The figure in question is Meat Sweats, who states that he wasn't there to hire Huginn and Muninn, but to cook them. The screen shifts to Meat Sweats preparing the meal while the gargoyles are inside a cage. While discussing, Huginn begins to remember the time they started working with Baron Draxum.

Before the first episode, Huginn and Munnin used to live in the Goyles of Fortune and were treated like weaklings. Muninn stated that they’re never gonna get out, but Huginn reminded him that someone will put them in a warm house under a fireplace and live like dogs. The Sarge then informed the goyles that someone received an order for two gargoyles. He enlisted Huginn and Muninn to bring the stronger goyles by using the carriage,

On their way, Munnin complains about why they gave this job. Huginn told his friend that they’re smart and suggested they should use a shortcut to Devil’s backbone. They turned to the direction and because of the bumpy road, the gargoyles fell off and were taken by two lava hands.

The moment they arrived, Huginn introduced himself and Muninn and were so amazed by the strong, handsome flaw of the mighty alchemist. Draxum looked at them and stated  they look less strong. Huginn realized that the two gargoyles they were carrying were not here so he said that they were the Goyles of Fortune. Draxum led them to his house and to his lab where he explained about the yokai creatures that will defeat the humans and protect the yokai world. Muninn finds a box of turtles and Draxum explains that they are their prime  subjects that he will mutate. He gave the two goyles their first task: put the reins on his new unicorn yokai. Huginn thought they would bridle a gentle pony but it turns out, the pony is a scary beast and started to attack them.

After a few minutes, they came back and completed their task. Draxum gave them their next task to capture Lou Jitsu. He explained that his DNA can create a lot of warriors but Big Mama is holding him captive.

The goyles started to head to the Battle Nexus hotel disguised as champions to get past and head into the dungeons. They find Lou Jitsu aka Yoshi and tell him that they need him for Draxum’s experiments.Yoshi accepts this as long as he doesn’t have to fight.

Back at the lab, Draxum is impressed that his goyles did a good job bringing him here. He orders the goyles to be on his shoulders in the morning and enjoy their dog bed. While Yoshi is placed in his cage, he takes a kind interest in the turtles and wants to name them. Later, Draxum informed Yoshi that the turtles will become fighters and rule the earth as he placed all four of them in green pods. Yoshi doesn’t want this and refuses to let Draxum turn them into monsters. Draxum started the machine to mutate the turtles and Yoshi, with filled determination, breaks free and kicks Draxum in the stomach, causing the now mutated turtles to be released.

Meanwhile, Huginn and Muninn hear the commotion and wonder what they should do. Huginn suggested that the unicorn could stop him, but the horse threw them into the power source, setting it in an explosion. Yoshi frees the rest of the yokai so they can escape and grab the turtles so they can be protected. He takes out his pet rat to go free but the rat bite him. The ooze landed on Yoshi and he slowly started to mutate into a rat.

After the destruction, Draxum watched in solemn silence as most of his work was destroyed. Huginn apologized to Draxum that the man destroyed his lab. After a moment, Draxum said it would take years to restore his lab and has to restart again.

The flashback ends and Huginn opens up the door since Meat Sweats forgot to unlock the cage. Muninn wondered why and his friend explained that the story he told felt warm inside.

Quotes[]

  • Muninn: Oh, man. I see my whole life flash before me.
  • Huginn: Oh, yeah? Which parts specifically?

  • Draxum: Those rare surface creatures will one day become my greatest warriors.

Trivia[]

  • The title of the episode is a reference of the song "Girls, Girls, Girls" by the American rock band, Mötley Crüe.
  • This episode marks the final in-person appearances in the series of both Huginn and Muninn.
  • This episode reveals the full origins of the Turtles.
  • Lou Jitsu had originally referred to Leo and Raph respectively as "Green" and "Green Number Two" prior to their mutation.
  • 20190223 134944

Lou Jitsu in "The Evil League of Mutants".

This episode potentially contains some continuity errors.
    • When Huginn and Muninn recount the Turtles' mutation in "The Evil League of Mutants", Draxum's machine has six visible mutation chambers, two on top and four on the bottom[1], but in this episode only four are shown.
    • In "The Evil League of Mutants", Lou Jitsu has two tubes attached to his chest, unrestrained wrists, and wears no clothes, not even his sunglasses. But in this episode, Lou Jitsu is seen with no tubing attached to him, his wrists bound by vines, and fully clothed.
    • Lou Jitsu screams and shudders in pain as Draxum activates his machine to mutate the Turtles in "The Evil League of Mutants", but shows no physical discomfort in this episode during the same event.
    • In the final shot of Lou Jitsu and the turtles in "The Evil League of Mutants", the background fire is green while in this episode the background fire is blue.
  • It was revealed in December 2019 by Rise of the TMNT staff writer Russ Carney in a Tweet that, "Some of the inspiration for 'Goyles Goyles Goyles' was derived from the classic Heckle and Jeckle cartoons of yesteryear."[2]
  • It was confirmed in December 2022 by Rise of the TMNT staff writer Ron Corcillo in a Tweet that this episode takes place in-universe roughly in 2005.[3]
    • This is congruent as the Rise of the TMNT TV series begins in-universe in 2018 and Huginn and Muninn state in "Todd's Lemonade" that "The Evil League of Mutants" takes place on the 13th year anniversary of the Turtles' mutation. 2018 and 2005 are 13 years apart.
    • As Raph is one year older than Leo and Donnie and two years older than Mikey, it is likely that Raph hatched around 2003, Leo and Donnie hatched around 2004, and Mikey hatched around the same year he mutated in 2005.
  • It was revealed in January 2023 by Rise of the TMNT background painter Jermaine Jose in a Tweet that, "I remember since this was a flashback episode, I wanted to somehow indicate that with texture, so I added a subtle dust/paper texture throughout."[4]
  • The gesture Lou Jitsu does in his Battle Nexus cell is reminiscent of viśuddha mudrā ("throat chakra seal"), used in Buddhism and Hinduism. However, his thumbs should touch. While Lou Jitsu chants the bījamantra "Ōṃ", the bījamantra specific to viśuddha is "Ham".
    • The other gesture Lou Jitsu does in Draxum's laboratory is jñāna mudrā ("knowledge seal"). An Indian alternative medicine system called Āyurveda explains the body as being comprised of five elements; fire, air, ether, earth, and water. The thumb represents fire, the index finger represents air, the middle finger represents ether, the ring finger represents earth, and the pinky finger represents water. Jñāna mudrā is used to connect the air element (index finger) to the fire element (thumb).
  • There are 35 tally marks drawn on the interior wall of Lou Jitsu's Battle Nexus cell. Lou Jitsu uses Western tally marks instead of Japanese tally marks made from the kanji .
