Goldfin is a character appearing on Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He is the leader of the East River Three.
History[]
A goldfish, eel, and seahorse lived in the East River with other sea life, all around a giant pearl nestled in a large oyster shell. They considered it their home "until the sky fell", as Goldfin put it. Superfly, tangled in the wires of his assimilator, falls into the water. Goldfin becomes caught in a vent of the assimilator, and both Lee the Eel and Mustang Sally try to pull him loose. When the assimilator hits the bottom of the river, the jolt helps free Goldfin, but it also sets off the assimilator. Superfly doubly mutated, but the rays from the assimilator also mutated the three partners. Splinter and April Fight a Goldfish
Notes and trivia[]
- Goldfin's name is a play on that of James Bond villain Auric Goldfinger.
- In fact, when Splinter asks Goldfin if he got his name from watching Bond movies, the latter admits that he did.
- Goldfin is the only member of the gang who would not actually survive living in the East River, as the semi-salty estuary would kill a freshwater goldfish.
- Goldfin's choice of species might also refer to the popular practice of flushing small pet goldfish down toilets after dying.
