Some TMNT stuff was always meant for grownups.

Furrlough is an adventure anthology comic that serializes stories that appeal to the furry fandom. It began publication in 1991, and is still publishing. Furrlough was originally published by Antarctic Press, but since March 1997 was published by Radio Comix. The latest issue of Furrlough was in September 2010, and the publication has since been on hiatus.

Furrlough is also known for serializing three parts of the 1997 unfinished series Ninjara: Seed of Destruction, an official, more mature-themed continuation of Ninjara's story from Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles Adventures that had previously been published by Archie Comics until the end of that series' run in 1996, but now featuring Ninjara's life after leaving the Turtles. The new series was written by Stephen Murphy and Chris Allan, both of whom had been regular contributors to Archie continuity comics.
