The Freedom One appears in the IDW comic series beginning with The Armageddon Game: Opening Moves issue 1. It is the spacecraft used by the Nova Posse and was at one time part of the Imperial Aerwyl Starfleet, Nova Squadron Division.
The Commander of the Freedom One is Luna Azul. Seated at the helm are Zebulon and Trip, who also mans the weapons controls. The other members of the crew are Rave, Grotto and Exeen.
In "Opening Moves" the Nova Posse, in the Freedom One, arrives at the planet Balaraphon. They are responding to a mayday signal sent by Zak aboard the Neutrino vessel Resistance One when they come under attack by Utrom Empire Forces. The appearance of Freedom One sends General Krang into retreat, fearing that what he terms “the coalition’s most prized asset” would not enter a battle without significant reinforcements incoming. Luna Azul orders all weapons to be locked on Krang’s vessel, but he withdraws before the Freedom One fires.
In The Armageddon Game issue 2, the Nova Posse take the Freedom One to the Volcanic Asteroid, home to the Blastorama Pleasuredome. They are now bounty hunters in pursuit of Torbin Zixx.
In issue 137, the Freedom One arrives on Earth with the Nova Posse and Michelangelo on board. They are just in time to aid the Turtles and Seri in their battle against Colonel Ch’rell and his Triceraton slaves. When it turns out that Ch’rell was piloting his Triceraton slave body from Burnow Island, Azul offers to transport Seri there aboard the Freedom One.
